What temperatures have people got their thermostats set on?
My house is quite well insulated and 14 degrees feels ok if I wear a jumper and so on.
I'm wondering if it is healthy, though.

Ours is 14 too for approx five hours a day. Yesterday I wore five layers and when we sat down we had a 10.5 tog quilt on our knees. There's a WHO minimum healthy temperature and I'm pretty sure it's higher than 14° |

Currently 17 because I'm coming down with a bug. I am however wearing a jumper dress, leggings, a jumper, cardigan and blanket wrapped around me. I couldn't face 14 today, I'd probably cry. |

If it's too cold or too hot you could have a stroke. |

My house was 17.5 this morning and I turned the heating on because I felt cold.
I'm not well still and have on a jumper and warm socks, and a duvet over me as I'm sitting next to a radiator.
I can still feel a cold draught on my right side. |

It's really awful isn't it? I'm quite aware that I'm in a fortunate position right now and can turn it on when poorly but it must be horrible for those who can't afford to. I'm sorry you're not well still, hope you're able to rest and recuperate without worrying about Christmas. x |

My body can't tolerate the cold for long even when I'm not ill.
I feel for elderly people who are scared to even use one radiator. Wrapping up warm isn't the same x |

Mine is at 18 when on. It's the minimum recommended apparently but of course can't have it on all the time so couple of hours in the morning and few hours in the evening. Unfortunately it does feel really cold at the moment. Keeping busy and moving all the time helps otherwise it would be intolerable |

There's no temperature setting on my heaters (storage heater) but two of my five heaters are on one notch up from minimum. My place is very well insulated. There's some chill in the air but with jumpers and blankets I'm fine |

"Mine is set at 18° between 7am and midnight then set at 16° overnight. I could probably go a bit lower at night to probably 14° or 15° though thanks to having a nice warm duvet."
So that's on basically all the time. I used to do that but don't dare now. Your bills must be astronomical |

I think a lot depends on where the thermostat is placed. I rarely hear rooms I’m no using anymore. It’s set to between 8 at night and 12 in the day to keep it mostly off unless very cold. When we need heat we push it one or 2 degrees above the current temp for an hour or two and that’s enough |

Mine has been on 16, only gets actually warm in the bathroom with the door shut (the only internal door that fully closes and the room is tiny)
I'm chuffing freezing at the mo. Had no front door on since 9am coz the new one is being a bitch to fit. |

Nope, thats what the thermostat is set at, doesn't mean its running all the time thanks to decent insulation. |

Mine shuts off once it gets up to temperature, too.
I'm beginning to think I'll have to turn it up, not because I'm that cold, but just to prevent future illnesses. |

Where's your thermostat? The room you spend the most time in might be a different temperature. |

There seems to be confusion and unless I test it out I am still not sure what is best. I used to keep thermostat at 18 all the time and of course boiler would switch off when reaching that I did that as they used to say was more efficient than having it on and off all the time. Now I have it on couple of hours in the morning and few hours at night. Really not sure what is the best way. If anyone knows for sure or is a professional perhaps could advise. |

I don’t have the heating on all the time only turn up the thermostat when needed to 20c would like it warmer so I could stay naked all the time. This morning didn’t have the heating on but wearing a heated jacket with the front open and nothing else |

"21 "
So are uou saying ots always on at 21 and if ot drops off at anytime during day or night, it fires up again? What is you are out most or part of the day? Do you turn off? Mine is on timer but house feels cold outside the set times. I used to have it on at 18-20 all the time before. |

Ours is on a timer, approximately five hours a day. At the moment our combined gas and electricity runs at around £7 a day with the thermostat at 14° |

In the hallway, and it is a bit colder there than the living room. Perhaps a degree or so. |

For start off the who recomended is for people who are sat and cant move around everyone else has different temperatures that they are comfortable with.
As goes for the above comment your better off instead of the way your doing it, Having it fire up every hr for 15mins as this will keep the house at a much better temp and it will heat up more as the day goes on.
Night time firing of the boiler same thing fire up once or twice during the night for 15 mins
This way it stops the house dropping the house temps and then needig to fire it for longer periods in the morning. |

The thermostat is in the coldest room (kitchen) and is set to 18°c from 6 to 8am, and 4pm to 10pm. As soon as it reaches that temperature the heating shuts off, so it isn't blasting for all that time. During the rest of the day it's set to 16°c and rarely, if ever, comes on as the house is well insulated. Each room also has a thermostatic radiator valve and they will shut off if that room reaches 18°c before the kitchen does. |

The thermostat is in the living room so thats how warm the living room gets but bedroom is usually a little cooler same as the bathroom but not too much cooler.
Also when i've finished using the oven i leave the door open slightly so the heat from the oven isn't wasted which makes a bit of a difference too. |

Downstairs is currently set to 22c as it's all laminate downstairs and north facing living room so not the warmest. I've got several layers on and still haven't warmed up from the school run....the blanket is coming out in a minute!
Heating isn't even on for the 2 upstairs floors as it's quite warm up there.....well apart from my bedroom in the loft space. |
