All this coffee / barista shit is poncey - all that is required is this: Jar of Nescafe, Water, Kettle and a cup - then you have coffee without the frappe, lappe, latte bullshit - just put in a drop of milk and a spoon of sugar in if you fancy it and away you go.

I love the convenience of the pods but I'm very aware they are horrendous for the environment. Never thought of it as poncy in any way, but fair play to anyone who does.
When I can I use my percolator, just save the pod machine for when I don't have time for better. They're a step up from instant but nowhere near as nice as fresh ground, freshly brewed. |

Happy with a big mug of Nescafé and a drop of milk.
Partner family and friends have all given up on trying to win me over to the other side with their fancy beans and pods and alien machines |

"Cafetiere/French press. Nothing else needed.
Nespresso is glorified instant coffee. "
Yes, I like plain Nescafé Instant, I reckon it’s the perfect caffeine delivery system, perfected in a Swiss laboratory |

"I’m sorry but I am a serious coffee snob! If I go to a house on business and I get offered coffee or tea. If I see a jar of Nescafé then it’s tea!!"

"You don't get proper flavour unless you just pop the coffee beans in your mouth and chew..."
I was given what I thought were a bag of chocolate peanuts. They were coffee beans. It has to be particularly bad for me to need to spot food out, but, BOAK… |

I am a real coffee-head, probably more than most other women. This isn't snobbery or anything like that, but I really love my coffee.
OK, the only instant I even entertain is Douwe Egberts, but I have only ever had the cheap n' cheerful type of coffeemaker from Argos, etc. They make perfectly good coffee without all poncy crap you don't need.
I can thoroughly recommend picking up a pack of: "Fuck Me - That's Strong Coffee" |

I use a basic Nespresso machine at home for espresso shots for my flat whites, or simple, quick Americanos. I use a milk frother for the flat whites and hot chocolate
Nespresso aluminium pods which Nespresso recycle for free
Also take pods out with me to work, and use in my Minipresso portable hand pump, so there’s no chance of ordeal by freeze dried ever again |

"Nespresso etc. They are though, aren’t they"
I used to think they were chav version of real coffee until I recent tried an expresso hand pump with blade attachment to pierce a nexpresso capsule. One of the best coffees I’ve had in ages, far better than an aeropress.
Generally I just use a Krups burr grinder & Sage machine - keep it simple. I find with bean to cup machines you don’t get a good grinder unless going industrial & paying 2-3 grand |

"Anyone who uses a French press should buy an AeroPress; uses less coffee for a much greater taste and far easier to clean."
Try the minipresso hand pumps, much better , much higher pressure than aeropress |

An aeropress isn't really an espresso maker so you can't really compare the 2 as they make different drinks. |

£6 cafetiere from IKEA, good ground coffee. Inexpensive and delicious.
Also cannot stand all these pretentious names for milky coffee. Putting all that milk in it means it no longer tastes like coffee. Black or a tiny dash of semi skimmed milk and NO sugar |

"I have a poncy Sage Tea Maker & i don't care what anyone thinks
... a what what??
Sage doesn't go well with any biscuits, surely?! "
Haha Sage goes best with Stuffing
It's a Kettle that brews loose leaf tea. Google it & be totally aroused |

Why would you spend a silly amount of money in a device when a tea bag or a teapot will do exactly the same job? I'm a gadget nut but all of mine do something is difficult or time-consuming to do another way. |

Aeropress, hand grinder.
I use my Espro press for cold brew in summer and occasionally dick around with pour over when I can be bothered. Black, no sugar.
When most people offer me coffee I opt for water. You know I like you if I drink your coffee and it's not hipster esque like mine. |

I use a cafetière (French Press), which serves my purpose perfectly. I've recently started sourcing ground coffee from Hasbean™, far cheaper than the daily visit to the coffee shop.
I know of a Forumite who actually gets another Forumite to manually and laboriously grind her beans for her. Apparently the coffee tastes nicer when the grinding's been outsourced. Weird. |

For me it has to be Cafetiere or Mokka Pot or Percolator depending on the situation. I have a vintage grinder which gives a nice coarse ground powder perfect for cafetieres. |

Aeropress or French press are definitely a cheap way to go for a better quality general coffee.
Bean to cups not bad but you can get reasonable espresso machines these days for not much more and I think its worth it.
And yes, I run an independent poncy coffee shop |

Good answer and amusing too. I use a French cafetiere with freshly ground coffee and also use the traditional italan espresso maker or moka pot. I think both give you a good cup of coffee. |

I used to have a Dulce Gusto that made all manner of poncey coffees from pods (which I don't drink) a cafetiere is best in my opinion |

Mine too. Words to warm the cockles.
I'm beyond sad as my favourite place announced it was closing over Christmas as owner wanted to live by the coast. How dare he! |

Alas along with being able to sustain a caffeine addiction comes a vaping habit. If your ever around nottingham or Leicester though we're worth a visit haha (purely for the coffee) |

But, but have some beans not bean through a civets colon? "
Yep….Kopi Luwak, and it’s lovely….
Very happy with the Nespresso machine we have. I’d like a fancier machine but I know I’d get fed up of disposing of all the grounds.
Nescafé is like shitty pond water, horrible stuff. |

At a time when we are realising that we need to cut back on plastic packaging and reduce our wastage, I find these things particularly vulgar and insensitive to the environment.
How much extra waste is generated by all these single use 'pods'.
They may claim that they're recyclable, but I bet most of them end up in the bin.
What's wrong with a goid old fashioned Filter coffee machine with a washable filter.
My Espresso machine uses nothing disposable. Just a quick clean up afterwards (oo-er missus) |
