Cash in a pub ?
I was just thinking back to when I was was staying in the middle of nowhere on one of the hottest days of the year, when I asked someone if there was a pub nearby and he said..
"There's a pub just five minutes walk up the beach"
That 5 minutes walk was actually more like 45 and when I finally got there I ordered two pints because I was so thirsty and I handed the lady a twenty, but before I could take a sip she said..
"Cash only"
And she literally took my drink away and I had to walk all the way back .
There were no signs stating that is was a cashless pub. |

I don't know about the rest of you but I don't want to be paying with card when I go for a drink. If I spend 40 quid and I was charged more I wouldn't had a clue about it |

I would not give my business to anyone who said card only. I mostly use cards these days but cash too and believe strongly that the option should be their for anyone to pay cash. Also I am not selfish enough, as I said recently on a similar thread, to believe we should abandon cash as there are people who aren't able to manage cards and situations when cash is the only common sense way to pay, like a busker or donation box. |

I imagine buskers with card machines in the future and beggers waiving them around in the hope to get enough for a meal.
Seriously though I hope cash will always be around. |

Don't even joke about this..... a lot of them around London and homeless people seem to have card machines now. |

"Yes once in Milton Keynes...
Wasn't happy one bit ...
Toffee nosed fuckers "
I found some toffee noses like that when I was in London. Three pubs where I was staying refused cash. One of them I pulled a tenner out and he was like.. ummmmm what literally as if he never saw a note in his life! |

"We've been to Newcastle and Edinburgh very recently and bars in both cities wouldn't take cash. It's ridiculous."
It is ridiculous. I wrote a review about one of them and they wrote back explaining that it was a cashless pub and there was a sign on the door.. but there was no signs!!
Later that night I walked past and I noticed that they wrote on a chalk board "this is a cashless pub " and plonked it next to the door. |

So do I. Just look at previous threads on here though and you will know why with people adamant we should do away with cash. Apparently all old people, the disabled, the buskers, the charity collectors and so on and so on can learn to be comfortable with cards. I can see it now, busy city guy rushing to make some millions stopping to get his card out and have a card transaction with the busker in the street If more people think like that, it's likely we see more places unfortunately refusing cash. If we all protest though and take our business elsewhere then there is a good chance they will rethink. |
