I did my first ultra this year, busy life meant not much running for the past few weeks but back at it now.

20 miles planned for Northern Ireland next year and I'm sure another ultra and a marathon.

I run everything from 5km to marathons. I'm a shit marathon runner though but am training already for Manchester next year, if that one goes crap I might have to accept that after 20+ attempts marathons aren't for me and stick with halves.

Fave distance is a half marathon but also a huge fan of parkrun

Duck/dogs and foxes I fell over. Squirrel - running on a main road under a big overhanging tree. Bus passes and knock squirrel from tree on to me. Scared the shit out of both of us. Got whiplash as I was so started.

To my ifo

If you ran you probably met down the park for a doggy bag slamming

'Simon says' was for later after you'd pulled or 2am in the bushes /hairpiece

And you probably did it for nipplerash/vaseline or shaved parts & occ.

Moaned at the lad from the church ending with Telly

Or getting a Bike between your legs

I'm an ironman triathlete rather than a runner, I prefer the swim and bike, but I have to run at the end, or I don't get the finisher medal I did the York marathon earlier this year, but I don't do many stand alone runs.

I've Bolton and Barcelona ironman booked for this year. Not often you see those towns in the same sentence. Helps in bed? Sure, there's always someone who wants to play at those events

I don't (can't) run, but I do 5k and 10k "runs" in my manual wheelchair. I do Parkrun when I can (PB - 30mins flat) and did the Manchester 10k back in May (1hr 13mins).

I don't get out as much as I'd like in the winter, because ice, snow and heavy rain cause serious loss of grip and you can't move quickly at all.

Bolton? Yes, it has the slowest bike leg of all ironman courses, even slower than Lanzarote, which many people think is the hardest.

On the other side, Barcelona is one of the easiest...as long as it's not too windy.

Good luck with Staffs, after this year I may do a few halfs. Staffs is on my list. I also want to do Mallorca.

The Spartathlon? I've read a couple of books about that, it sounds insanely tough. Though I guess at least that long ago you didn't have to do the qualifiers which are just as insane. Well done, om genuinely in awe! I can't comprehend running 153 miles on what is arguably the toughest point to point race in thevworld

"I’m doing staffs this year.

Hilton’s tough isn’t it?

I also want to do Mallorca."

Yeah Bolton. Sorry autocorrect. Good luck

We're both the same. Love the swim and bike but see the run just as a means of reaching the red carpet. Did Barcelona and Wales last year. Booked for Ireland and Wales again this year. Doing Majorca 70.3 and Lakesman full relay as training building up to Ireland. Good luck to all Ironman participants this year. You are bloody amazing!

I grew up surfing in Cornwall, so sea swims hold no fear for me. I live in a very rural area, so I've had a bike for a number of years. Running though, before I took up triathlon at 57 I think the last time I ever ran was for a bus in the 1970s but I joined a local running club and I'm getting better. As a mesomorph I have an advantage of resilience. The anorexomorphs fly off ahead of me, but I often pass them later when they're broken and limping.

Done Ironman Wales, UK, Barcelona and Outlaw. Love the swim as grown up on the beach. Don't mind the bike and the run/shuffle is what it is !!

Stand alone sub 20 5K and a 1:37 half which is probably my favourite distance

Bound to be a few, just look at the number of condoms handed out at the Olympics fit healthy people tend to enjoy sex. Sadly I was never quite that good, but 2 people I regularly trained with won medals at the Los Angeles Olympics. Normal guys mostly, just had a talent that was a bit better than most.

It's a compulsory journey to the start line. Not many triathletes in the amateur ranks are good swimmers, and those that are are generally not v good on the bike.

I'm the same, I dont like the idea of cycling in wet lycra though in my case that's an autistic sensory issue as I hate wet clothes touching me!

I will do one one day but I much prefer duathlons. But every year I work multiple triathlons and it does make me want to have a go, I'll be helping at an iron distance race this year so that might be what makes me take the plunge abd sign up for a shorter one

Important to join a club get guidance from a coach, you won't look back.

Went from a 1:18 Ironman Swim to a 1:02 it is the most difficult to master and consistency is key

Always work on weakest elements... Swimming isasyou suggest, all. About technique. Surprisingly cycling is technical, running efficient tly needs to be coached so many of us run a lot slower due to natural inefficiencies... Oh for the days of 10speed bikes and speedoes with. Ripped vest.. And that was the men some great club kits way back when... AQUA AND PINK Manchester Tri gave way to Puprle and Yellow then RedWhiteBlack....... I found all the time. Down on the bars helped with flexibility for the fourth event

I run usually two or three times a week. Recently started with a four legged running partner who's great at running but not so good in the heat. We'll maybe have to keep the distances down until the winter when it's cooler and the cows are back in their sheds.

Do I get a prize for telling you who was in front and who was behind you... You are a great runner but the next step up to absolute World Class is a gulf away.. I used to think I was decent with a 2:32:47 then realised I was twenty minutes behind others... Mind you sub 3s consistently in Tri helped my self esteem... Now I couldn't run a bath

Only really got into running very recently.

No real goals apart from getting out and running

Ran a half marathon recently just to see of I could. The takeaway was, yes I can do a half, I was stupid to go that distance without building up resistance.

Now sticking with 5k and 10k for the time being until I am comfortable then slowly increase the distance.

From a purely mental aspect it has worked wonders
