"Noticed a couple that are offering for someone to join them for Christmas lunch then have a social afternoon so peeps aren't alone for Christmas that's anice way of doing things"
What a kind gesture.... We all know that christmas time is the hot spot time for suicides.. If we can offer some solice to one person who is going to be lonely then well what a great thing to do... |

No I wouldn't even think or consider it whatsoever.
Perhaps if people are lonely then they might want to, but I would imagine people with families will spend this special time with meaningful real friends and family |

"Do you know what if I was on my own and not with friends.. Then yes I would.. beats two people being on their own christmas day.... "
I agree as well.
Although its a time for family and friends for most people, for some its a miserable time and if they want to have their own bit of fun and frivolity I say good luck to them. |

Depends on how disfunctional the families are.. I have a great family but I know a few people that are dreading being with family as they simply do not get on.... |

Since my divorce and after my mum died I spend Christmas usually with my brother. However, I am usually at home alone on Christmas night so having a meet to keep me company and have a good shag with suits me right down to the ground.
I spend Christmas Eve with my daughter and we open prezzies together before going to my brother's, or he comes to me. But after a long day everyone needs their space and by 7ish or so we go our separate ways. |

Theres so many people that don't have the traditional christmas these days its no surprise that people would want to meet up if they could
I like the idea of fab people being with other fab people and having a great time with each other instead of sitting at home on their own |

also depends on your views of xmas, i buy gifts etc for my kids because its just expected
Im not religulous tho and i think xmas is just meaningless to so many people regarding the true meaning of it and quite hypocritical, if i didnt have children i wouldnt even bother with it but i feel i have to so they dont feel left out, not everyone celebrates christmas or sees it as a special time, me being one of them lol |

I'm not sure you appreciate just HOW much I love Christmas!!!
There will be no skipping of salmon & cream cheese bagels with champagne, nor of turkey with roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, carrots cooked in butter with garlic & onions, parmesan roasted parsips and sprouts cooked in reisling with smoked bacon in this house!!!
Not even for a fuck |

I don't expect presents as I am 32 years of age and if there is something I want I would like to think with a bit of saving I could get it myself.. My parents buy me gifts throughout the year such as perfume, wardrobe and clothes.. It is just another day to me and would never dream of getting into debt just for 1 day... Even when I do have a family... |

Am I misreading this thread - or is it getting a little too judgemental and a little less Christmas spirity?
I think how people choose to spend Christmas is their choice - if they have that choice. |

this post is making me feel better and better about being on my own christmas day...lol...For some of us Christmas IS all about family and I would LOVE to be spending it with my real meaningful friends and family ...BUT kids will be off to their dad's after opening their pressies Christmas morning and staying for a week and all my family is in Canada and although I do have amazing friends I would not expect them to say awww poor H. and include me in their own family celebrations. So would I accept an offer to meet in the evening on the 25th? Why not. |

Christmas, formerly a religious holiday, latterly a feast of pure commercialism, now proposals to turn it into a swing-a-thon, Wow, we've almost come full circle, if someone could just turn up the undersoil heating at Stonehenge, dont step on my toga, mine's a pint of goats blood please !
