Perhaps this talk of scousers, someone could enlighten myself and hubby. Years ago he was on business in Liverpool for the first time. Shortly after leaving the station he was approached by four or five guys over a period of 15 minutes, all asking him, "Do you want a bargain". Can anyone tell us what this was all about, as they did not have any goods with them |

"Scouse accent huge turn off for me xx
Well thats your loss x "
You ask the question on a forum, and get arsey when people answer honestly, if you can't live with the answer, don't ask the question. The scouse accent IMO is possibly the one regional accent that I can't stand listening too, so much so that after being raised in Liverpool I inevitably grew up with the accent, after leaving I spent alot of time and effort ridding myself of the accent as I found it a hinderance. Wherever you go in this country there is an inherent distrust of 'the scouser' It can also be sometimes mistakenly perceived as an aggressive accent. Which the op manages to display merely typing in a scouse accent I am sure the only people likely to 'get off' on the scouse accent would be other scousers. |

Is that a documented fact or just your opinion.....Maybe in Liverpool they do |

"i think some people r stuck up ones own arse what do you think"
I think the OP asked a question inviting people to give their opinions, as many have, if giving your opinion as asked for is being 'stuck up you own arse' then that is your opinion ..... just because you don't like or don't agree with the opinions given doesn't give you right to be abusive, but then your post only goes to validate my earlier post. |

I think people should stick to answering the OP's question and not deviate onto what they percieve people from Liverpool to be. There are 'strange' people in every big city, but I can assure you that many Liverpool people are well educated, interesting, sexy, helpful and hard working. That includes me of course |

If you're Steven Graham then ill have phone sex with you, I love that actor.
I am not turned on by accents as such. I do like it when Newcastle men say 'our lass' when talking about their wives. |

Christopher Maloney!
I was never a great fan of the scouse accent but ever since being subjected to that whiney git every week I dislike it even more.
I think it's because the pitch gets higher and higher until eventually, thankfully, only dogs can hear it |

Just Wow at some of these posts.
Fair enough the OP may not have done him/her self any favours, and yes Im a scouser, I find some posts offensive and uncalled for.
Not everyone from Liverpool has a strong accent, nor is every Scouser aggressive or unintelligent. Long live stereotyping!
As I said, some posts are uncalled for and insulting.
But what would I know, I'm just a thick, aggressive scouser

To lighten the subject, I think the OP read an earlier post which asked people what accent they found sexy, quite a few people said they loved the scouse accent. I guess he just thought he would use this post to try to entice those people to speak to him. Nothing wrong with that, he just didnt go about it in the best way.
Such a shame it turned into a discussion about Liverpudlians.
As with looks / body shape / ethnicity etc etc we all have our preferences, and are entitled to them. Its just upsetting to see stereotypical assumptions.
Peace and love x |

Hmmm, wonder why all call centres on the flog seem to be based anwhere other than Mare-see-side, such as Geordie land, Scotand and Dehli etc, etc, frankly struggle to know what the hell any of 'em are babbling on about ! |

Seriously? you really can't undersatand a word of it
I think people love to stereotype an accent,if the OP had asked the same question about people from Birmingham/Manchester/London/Bristol all the replies would have come back with every stereotypical assumption thats ever been made about that region and the type of people that come from there
My own accent is a great source of amusement to the people of the place I live in now,and they can't talk as they have Farmer Giles hay chewing accents |

I know. I was explaining but there was so much phlegum (flem) on my phone screen I couldnt see.
There are 'twunts' wherever someone is from. It'd be nice once in a while people didnt class everyone in the same light.
People from Liverpool have different accents, the same as how southerners or mancs have different accents.
Ffs I need subtitles for Jamie Carragher doesnt make me a better person like some posts have implied.
An accent is an accent. And I'm extremely proud of mybaccent and the city I am from.
Be interesting to see how many of those who have posted the negative posts have actually visited Liverpool recently. As in the last 2years |

"Can I also point out Liverpool was oneof the friendliest places in the UK
Obviously they hadnt met some of you lovely people"
Can we also point out the in our post earlier Mr Fun was typing who is from liverpool.. We visit regularly as all his family ard there. all he stated was thst the accent is not nice.. and that it is often perceived as a certain type..
No one slagged off scousers.. just didn't and don't like the accent. don't like others as well but they weren't being discussed here.
I (mrs) been there several times and not overly impressed.. but then not overly impressed with Bridgend but thats not being discussed either
So be better to stick to op's question or comment and that of the other posts rather that taking offence to something that hasn't actually been said. |

"Can I also point out Liverpool was oneof the friendliest places in the UK

it still is..
to be honest your average resident of the fine city has a rep as either a bit of a joker, a scally or a remover of car wheels..
like anywhere without exception in the UK similar assumptions are made of other folk in other equally friendly places..
all regions / big cities pretty much have similar facets or faults, stories or rumours based on rivalries and historical animosities become the truth and are believed to be 'factual'...
these then grow with time and ignorance of the actual issue and are carried on from generation to generation..
twas ever thus..
when these start to become the perception of folk with no actual experience of a place, thats when it crosses a line.. |
