Hope its not to deep but just been thinking as a dad of a 13 year old is there a future in this country will there be good opportunities for the next generation or will it be the case of telling her to get a better live else where ie Australia as I regret I didn't go many years ago when I had the change |

Think it's a future in this world more of a worry really the country is as fine as the next one! I do worry about the future for my kids/grandkids and now great grandkids (meeting the latest addition for first time today) tbh x |

Honestly, the poorer you are the more I'd be concerned about having children in this society. It's becoming increasingly obvious that opportunities are linked to disposable income and with millions living in poverty it's scary.

I think we have to hope for that but that will still be am entirely generation if not completely fucked certainly massively compromised children. |

I'm inclined to agree. I don't know if leaving the country is the answer but I would certainly advise my children to do what's best for them in the long run. I think though that the children who are the most compromised will have no choice but to stay. |

Is very easy to be all grass is greener. Australia is many years behind the UK on a lot of standards. Everywhere has it's issues, and parts of life that are improving, or deteriorating.
Having a downer on the place you live and deciding to leave feels defeatist to my mind. |

I suppose that depends where you live.
Having lived in London, other cities, large towns and now the middle of butt fuck nowhere I'd definitely say mu quality of life has improved and declined based on the location at the time. Recognising a need for change and a better environment isn't defeatist, it's identifying an opportunity.
Likewise with work balance, social lives and quality of life. All can be improved with change at the right time.
Defeatist to me is seeing that things aren't right, staying put, not looking for new opportunities and accepting your fate without any attempt to change it.
You often can't change the world around you so the best way to improve your life is to seek a new one elsewhere.

From speaking with people I know. ( I have no children)Their children do not want to go into what I term the building trades. Yet when I was at school that was where a big percentage of friends did end up doing. Friends who I went to school with have ended up with their own successful businesses . |

I agree with this, I absolutely hate my daughter is being brought up in such a technology impacted generation, dating isn't dating anymore it's nudes and sexting with revenge porn, friends seem to come from online rather than real life with that comes trolling and online bullying, nothing is private everything gets shared across multiple social media, most children are attached to screens rather than nature.
It does make me a little sad!
