At ease, Fabbers!
I know there are quite a few ex service personnel on here. Or people with family/loved ones who served.
But what habits/traits do you/they still do that they picked up during their service??
Me?
At work, i refuse to acknowledge the hour, 00:00. It is either 2359 or 0001.
My back pack i wear to and from work, I still shake it to make sure it doesn't rattle or make a noise.
And i still carry too much kit in it....First Field Dressing, First Aid Kit, Torch (with Battery reversed), emergency arse wipe, waterproof clothing, KFS...all waterproofed, of course.
And of course, i still say gleaming, buckshee, minging, dhobi (dust), Dixies, mag to grid, bolo, break track...etc etc
Over to you. |

My mate says certain sounds and smells take him back to his days in the army brasso and kiwi boot polish and strange as it sound them old flourecant lights that make a buzzing noise he said that noise still makes him go cold his barracks had them and at 6 some one would come in screaming at them to get out of bed and a day of dread laid ahead but he says he’d go back in a heartbeat even to the bad old days of tours in NI |

Always being cross that the person you're meeting isn't there five minutes before just because you were.
Wanting to Fablon every map you ever use.
Having to bite your lip when anyone uses their finger to point to something on a map (my personal bête noir).
