Bareback sex - What is it?

I was having a conversation with someone recently regarding differing opinions on what constitutes bare back or unprotected sex.
For me it was any form of sexual contact that involves one or more sets of genitals where condoms or other barrier methods are not used and/or there is the potential for intentional body fluid transmission between people.
Do you make sure that your/theirs penis comes into proximity of your/their vagina without using a condom?
If two men are receiving unprotected oral at the same time from the same giver, and both penises touch either in the mouth or even in the hands, is that considered bare back or unprotected sex between both the men and the giver or just between each man and the giver?
If a person rubs their genitals on another persons genitals, but there is no penetration (e.g.: a woman rubs her lady garden all over a mans hand trowel), is that unprotected sex even if the act of penetration involves condoms?
If someone uses their hand on their partners genitals (hand job, fingering etc.) and then touches their own (or vice versa), is that unprotected sex? It could involve the transmission of body fluids after all.
If you engage in water sports and urinate on or in another persons mouth, vagina, anus or penis, is that bare back sex?
If a man ejaculates on another persons genitals (vagina, penis) anus or mouth, and or rubs/inserts it into the orifice, is that unprotected sex?
If someone wanks or cums in a hot tub and you get into the murky soup, is that unprotected sex? Or just a risk of STI transmission? |

"Purists mostly would view it as 'riding' penetrative sex of an orifice, I think. It ignores other things. Including risks, that OP has outlined. "
I remember hearing about people who were vocal about everything being protected/safe but absolutely loved grinding or rubbing uncovered penises against their genitals.
I found their perception to be a bit skewed. |

There's no such thing as 100% protected/safe sex unless you violate a person from the next room with a pipe wearing a hazmat suit and spraying everything under the sun with disinfectant as you go about your way to the vagina. Its just not practical.
You will not enjoy good sex like that. You'll give up with a hard on and a sac full of cum.
All you can is do your best. I do use a condom most of the time. I love to lick pussy which I do very well and gets me hard. That will not stop. I do touch and finger genitals. I had a partner who loved just sitting on me and rubbing my cock with her pussy to get off. I was happy with that bc we both take testing seriously and don't take huge risks with our health.
I haven't done proper bareback sex outside relationships but if the right person comes I'd do it bc I don't even remember how good it felt.
And by proper i mean full penetrative sex.

It's an interesting question but, in the way it's expressed above, risks missing the point. It doesn't matter to me whether a sexual practice falls within some dictionary definition of "unprotected sex". What matters is whether it involves risks to my health, and the other person's, which are acceptably low.
"Acceptably low" recognises that most things in life carry some risk. I cross the road outside my office on foot - but I wouldn't cross the motorway.
Unprotected oral is not risk free, but studies show it's significantly lower risk than unprotected vaginal or anal sex. So it's a risk I choose to take, whereas I choose not to take the risk of vaginal or anal. Others make different choices.
Some of the other examples are, I'm sure, much lower risk again. Perhaps some aren't. Interesting questions about practices such as two cocks touching in one mouth. Don't know the answers to those. |

Yeah, it was a tad flippant. At the time I was bemused that someone would be okay with grinding themselves on a partner, but then be shocked when they attempted condom less sex.
The risk of STI transmission is something that everyone should be aware of.
All of my scares have come from unprotected oral sex. Its worrying how many people do not include oral swabs in their checkup routine! |

Each to their own… but
Bare back sex or unprotected sex.. I see a lot of profiles statements by they want this on here, also when you look through some profiles and you see pics and vids of unprotected sex, also a profile with lots of veris, also you see things like “looking for a spontaneous meet.. bare back only”… I just think it’s pretty ignorant to the fact that there are high risks out there.. I mean is it worth catching an STD just for a quick thrill… an STD that could very well change your life. I’m not being judgmental but the risks are high in the swinging and casual sex world. |
