An attack on France

King Charles has banned the French delicacy from all Royal Palaces. France are the biggest breeder of foie gras which is made from a goose. There could be a loophole whereby it is allowed on Royal shoots and picnics because strictly speaking they do not shoot inside the palaces.

Will this aggravate French relations even further?

Should the monarchy dictate what others can eat?

It's all over the news

If I were monarch I'd sure as fuck want to be able to decide what food I get to serve in my own damn house.

He was very much against it even before he became king.

For the record, as Tom has deliberately left it out, it’s Foi’ Gras.

Don’t think the French give a toss either way.

They're his places of residence. I wouldn't let anyone eat foie gras in my house because I don't agree with the methods used to produce it.

It was included in Tom’s original comment, but I agree otherwise

Charles is saying he won't serve a very cruelly produced product in any of his homes. That seems perfectly reasonable to me.

Makes no difference to my life in Blighty and my love of all things French.

He's the King so he can do what he likes. They are French, they got rid of their monarchy and do not care. Lol!

I appreciate his work on Duchy products.

Yeah, can't forcefeed a goose but we allow the barbaric slaughter of millions of animals to please a couple of religions. We spent decades bringing in laws to ensure animals are not mistreated within the food chain then allow newcomers to just ignore those laws

Not meaning to be pedantic, but...

Foie Gras...(correct spelling) can be from either duck or goose, but is more readily available as duck!

I make goose terrine from geese I shoot (got another one this morning)

Nothing like chicken liver paté, which is just ordinary chopped and minced chicken livers. Foie Gras is obtained from either a duck or goose being force fed, which results in the liver being enlarged by up to 10 times its normal size....not quite sure how that could be obtained "organically"!!

In simplistic terms, yes, although much richer in taste than ordinary liver paté

Neither are we but we would ban it too, as it's produced in a very cruel way.

I used to have in my possession a French postcard (not a letter) depicting an ample fermière force feeding a goose whilst firmly clamping its neck between her thighs. Very kinky looking!
