I have reserved the fund to purchase a pearl or two to add to my 50th birthday present in the making.

And yes, I treated myself to an extra meet this month in the form of a hotel room.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Somehow I ended up with a new dress and some silk knitwear when I went shopping for presents for the children. A new basque jumped into the pile at the till the other day too. Lord alone knows what will happen when I go to Fortnums for the Christmas Pud this week. Shamefaced and glad to have confessed.

I'd better not visit you then. My handbag collection needs some rationalisation.

In my poor attempt at defence, whilst I can't really afford these pressies to myself I don't have any debt and I'll get just two presents at Christmas.

I'm playing a game of sale price chicken with a local shoe-shop who've got a pair of fully studded killer-heel shoeboots "size 10" in thier window display......

Surely at that size, no-ones gonna buy them before christmas and they'll be giving them away come the boxing-day sales........ I want them so bad!!!!!....but I will not crumble...

I want to buy myself a black and purple basque, (purple being my favourite colour), but I'm losing weight and don't know what size to get

Don't want to buy it and have it only fit me for a month. It's a limited edition colour so I may miss out on the chance to get it.

Having to remind myself there will be other lovely things available in the future when I've finished dieting and know what size I need.

I have bought quite a few pairs of shoes and boots lately, so I shouldn't buy myself anything else really.

But I probably will, if I am honest.

If I buy myself something it's because I need it, not as a pressie for myself. Having said that, I saw a rather delicious hacksaw I needed for work the other day that was reduced from £45 to £15 so I snapped it up.

Screwfix are forever sending me leaflets about sales and special offers. I can't remember if they have an official January sale though. Probably.

Machine Mart VAT free days are usually good. I don't normally get invites to those but I have several friends who do.

My brother was going to buy an ipad for my mum for her last birthday. I told him I thought she'd be more comfortable with a laptop. She has since confirmed this was the right decision. My brother was (and still is) out of the country at the time so I set it up for her and made it as fool proof as possible! She only uses it for the internet, email and to manage her Kindle and ipod anyway.

She just cannot get the hang of itunes though.

When she moved her itunes library from her old desktop to the laptop, she somehow lost half of it - about 20gB in total - and didn't even notice!

I don't usually buy myself a christmas present, not that I would consciously say 'ok this is for christmas for myself', I would however continue to buy any clothes or anything that I liked, and that may be for christmas parties. I class that as normal shopping.

I did buy that Soap and Glory make up when a thread was mentioned about the great saving on that £60 toiletry hamper. I wasn't quick enough to get one of those before they sold out but I did buy 3 for 2 on the makeup. I suppose that could be classed as a present for myself.

I do go out and buy something from the money my parents give me. This year I am buying a retro Delonghi toaster.

Otherwise I write my christmas list and I get presents from my family off my list, I don't buy them myself
