Good evening everyone and welcome to the Monday night nocturnal thread edition.

Why not stop by and say hello and chat some nonsense with us until the early hours of the morning especially if you're a newbie or lurker...

So what have you been up to this evening?....

Good evening, Ash. Today, I did a lot of work. I had to scrap gym in favour of finishing work

Upon getting home, I simultaneously ate my tea; listened to a child read and tried to teach my son how to iron a t-shirt.

We did Uni Challenge (145pts) and watched a programme about Hong Kong.

Upon getting home, I simultaneously ate my tea; listened to a child read and tried to teach my son how to iron a t-shirt.

We did Uni Challenge (145pts) and watched a programme about Hong Kong.

Good evening Mrs KC....how did the iron a T shirt teaching go?...

That's what I'm not sure of we have a ticket from Bussells midi to any This Belgium station so we are going to Bruges. It says our ticket isn't valid on high speed trains but I don't know if the faster trains can't as high speed.

1 takes 1 hour and the other 2 and another one takes just over an hour but with a change. We are not booked on a set train.

So I would say it needs to be the TGV trains rather than the SNCF if they’re still called that. It might narrow it down a bit. And put the translator app on your phone just for the stations. Sometimes the French can be really confusing even if you know a bit. I would think everything written should be in French so you will be ok with that rather than having to worry about Flemish too much. How exciting though! A road trip is just the best

Hi Lorna,

When they talk about high speed trains they mean the TGV, Thalys and ICE that go to France, the Netherlands and Germany. To get from Brussels to Bruges you will get a Belgian rail intercity train.

"Does anyone know anything about trains from Brussels midi to Bruges?

Is it the fast trains Lorna or the slower ones. I think from when I was there before it makes a difference. Should be easy enough to find you a timetable though

Hi Lorna,

When they talk about high speed trains they mean the TGV, Thalys and ICE that go to France, the Netherlands and Germany. To get from Brussels to Bruges you will get a Belgian rail intercity train. "

That's so helpful thank you

So I would say it needs to be the TGV trains rather than the SNCF if they’re still called that. It might narrow it down a bit. And put the translator app on your phone just for the stations. Sometimes the French can be really confusing even if you know a bit. I would think everything written should be in French so you will be ok with that rather than having to worry about Flemish too much. How exciting though! A road trip is just the best

Thank you.

I'm really excited. X

I can’t tell you how beautiful Bruges is. You will love it

We are going for the Christmas markets.

I have always wanted to go for them. I want to hear all about it "

Definitely. X

Can do nederlands a bit, so yeah. Flemish

OK I'm putting you on speed dial.

Okay

I can order you a ham and cheese sandwich and coffee and check you into a hotel

Oh. And can read a bunch of stuff about the period 1939-45 in the Netherlands, in Dutch

Operation Market Garden?"

Thanks to the tricolore french books we had in school, I can find my way around la rochelle. Should actually go one day

Could possibly read about that too, but my last exploits were reading about my family history. I'll tell you in private sometime......
