A box at end of your bed |
I too have been thinking of other ways to keep warm and heat the house. I live with my son so only my wage coming into house what with a £200 rent increase on my monthly rent and on top of that the high energy prices cash is now very tight. The last few days room temperatures have dropped dramatically last night down to 11 degrees which trigger the heat to come on automatically. I have been stopping in me bedroom which is where my computer is anyway which I spend a lot of time on, using a small fan heater and heat just that room but don't know if it's saving me money or not really. My sons small box bedroom warms up easily with just the heat coming from his computer lucky.
Difficult and worrying times for many people not just us singletons and the elderly but everyone. |

It really is quite scary, especially with only the one income in the household.
I noticed that the electric heater is cheaper to get the initial chill off a room then taken to blankets or more layers...even taken to going for a drive for some heat lol |

Defo getting to "I can see my own breath indoors" stage.
I've got 2 hot water bottles, fleece bedding and spending most of my time either in bed or in the living room and taking the chill off with the electric fire.
I've got no doors downstairs other that external ones and the bathroom door from where I had carpet fitted and they don't fit, so I've pinned a spare duvet where the living room one should be and that's helping massively. I've made a draught excluder out of 2 old scarves rolled up and held in shape by hair bands.
I've also got a curtain across my front door which helps keep the draught out.
I tend to clean the kitchen when I'm using the dryer coz that kicks out some heat and I mop the kitchen then too as it dries the floor quicker. |
