Over the rainbow, under the bridge

I remember being kicked out of the school band for being useless. And I was only playing the triangle. (And, no, that's not a joke!).

Grade 8 in piano achieved when I was 14.

Moved to choral singing and played the organ after that.

Continued to sing when I was at uni.

Did nothing musical for years after uni until I tried to learn the clarinet on my own a few years ago. Dropped that after a life-changing event.

Moved on to learn ballroom and latin dancing, now concentrating on tap dancing. May not be considered as "musical" as such, however, in order to dance well, one needs to be able to hear and feel the beats in the music.

So yes, I guess I am "musical".

So jealous. I cannot hold a tune in a bucket.

I love singing, not everyone likes to listen to me though but my dad (who loves singing too and has a beautiful tenor voice) and I often sing together just because we can.

Surely the phrase 'gob iron' should have been used in there somewhere ?

Frustrated (and Sarah would probably say frustrating too !) guitarist here...like the bloke in Sultans of Swing, I'm strictly rhythm, cos I'm totally incapable of making it cry or sing !

I (Bob) would really love to be able to play a musical instrument, Sax, Clarinet or piano would be my choice, but I haven't got the foggiest idea how to do it. Despite trying to read music, it just didn't compute.

Saw Acker Bilk, Chris Barber and Kenny Ball and their bands last week and they made it look so, so easy

I'm a classically trained clarinetist and vocalist and have performed all over the country and in France. I have directed choirs and orchestras too.
