Love an ominous title no?
Anyway who were you in high school, were you in a clique? Popular? Nerd? Jock?
I was in a skater crowd who fancied girls with lots of eyeliner and vans. Got along with everyone to an extent but did find the 'cool' kids annoying as fuck.
Your turns! |

Annoying arsehole who bunked off, caused havoc with teachers and was not a very nice lad. I regret much of school and how I was. I got nicer as I got older and grew up |

I was quiet, shy. A very easy target for bullies. I had the most horrendous and awful times at school. Actually breaks my heart thinking about little me.
I couldn't even focus on enjoying any subjects because the bullying was constant and debilitating.

Honestly I think I had a pretty perfect situ at school. I was smack bang in the middle of geeky and popular, but my boyfriend was older and very popular so that prob got me extra cool points. Can't think of any cliques I wouldn't have spoke to or who wouldn't speak to me. Good times for the most part. |

Complete loner. Skipped school most days and went and done my own thing. The few friends I did have back then though, I still have now. Never been one for "fitting in". As I've aged I've grown to quite like myself (on my good days) but childhood was... tough. |

I wasn't hot or funny back in those days. I'm a different person now. But even so, looks or how funny someone is shouldn't come into it, or make it somehow acceptable to bully someone. But that's the reality for many sadly.
I don't know why people bully... but I genuinely have no time for anyone even if they are young. I was tormented, beaten, almost killed, physically and mentally abused most days by countless people. Add in the combination of no support at home and it completely fucked up my mental health for a looong time.
I pray my daughter never has to go through it.
People can be very shitty.

I was a 'sport billy'. Got away with all sorts because I represented the school and got to much higher levels in several sports, so not doing homework and skiving off was generally overlooked.
Still managed to get suspended twice though......

Far from popular as I wasn't good enough to play for any of the school teams but not a geek either as I had to work hard for everything I got.
The sensible one from having to be a carer from the age of 12.
The protector, standing up for those being bullied.
The mediator, getting between people when fights broke out.
My teenage years were nonexistent. |

I was quiet in school had a few friends that were just school friends they weren't really friends outside of school. Middle of the road in school work and sports. Was bullied by a guy who was twice my size he tried to break my arm against a door frame and another guy in my year stopped him. He was twice my size so I couldn't fight him off myself I did try though. Once I turned 14 I stopped sports as I always had jobs to go to after school so that took priority over sports as I had to help with house-hold bills.I left halfway through my final year to work full-time. |

Quiet
Average
Shy
Neither at the bottom nor the top of the class
Good at sport but not great
Tried to fit in with all groups (sport/music/drama) but never found one
But did make a handful close friends who I still hang out with 40 years later |

I was friends with everyone. Bit of a teachers pet with one of them so I used to skip lessons and sit in his office drinking coffee..he gave me a note to hand to whatever teacher and say I was running errands for him but I just didn't want to go to whatever lesson it was I miss school now though, my mother always used to say it to me and I would say that I can't wait til I finish school! I say to my kids now..enjoy school whilst you can because best years of your like and you will miss it when you're older, they say same as I used to say..'pfffft as if mum' hahaha xx |

I was an unwilling outsider. I wanted to belong but I had little in common with the people around me. I hated football, I wasn't really interested chart music, I was, and still am, quite reserved, but I have a bad temper and can be quite confrontational. I wasn't bullied really. |

I got bullied a lot (my family didn't have much money) until I learned boxing and fought back. Then I kinda took it upon myself to stop the bullies whenever I saw it happening. After that, when I wasn't so shy, I was pretty popular |

It’s really quite moving how people had such awful teenage years
I have such happy memories of school - I was an absolute minger though
Reasonably bright, compliant, loads of friends, crap at PE and loads of fun.
Mr was quiet but sporty and his best mate was the most pervy teenage boy I’ve ever known!
At the time I was oblivious that not everyone had it so easy |

I hated school up until 16. I was bullied - not horrendously, but enough to make me miserable - and friendless, and bored rigid by most of my lessons.
Then Sixth Form College was a revelation. No uniforms, called teachers by their first names, lead guitarist in a great band, starring in plays, doing comedy shows, loads of friends...I found my people. University was spectacular, but 16-18 was when I first learned how fun life could be. |

School was hateful. I was clever and buried myself into the work but didnt escape the bullying. I can pinpoint the exact time I cracked, pulled on the mask of 'joker' hardened the shell and tried to let it all wash off me. It half worked and I just made it due to a hefty stubborn streak. Leaves its marks though and I had ño qualms at all pulling my girls from school when they visibly cracked and said they couldnt do it anymore. Schools |

I was a jock if anything, in reality I was a middle of the roader. I had a bit of everything, I was an inner wannabe nerd, but I happened to be good at and enjoy sports so got thrown into that crowd, I hated the cool kids and didn't like to the sporty crowd much, I just wanted to get through with as little hassle as possible. |

A floater. Or maybe chameleon is a slightly nicer phrase as could flit between groups. Clever enough for the top sets but not too clever to be geeky; good enough at sports to fit in with the jocks; "cool" enough for the parties, but not part of the ultra cool crowd (which was quite druggy, so happy enough about that).
I liked school, and really sad to read about some of your experiences above. Hugs to you all: well done for getting through it! My niece was bullied horribly and it was awful. If only those young people knew what kind of lasting impact they could have on people. Or worse, perhaps they do... |

I was a top set straight A student, who was pretty average at sports yet got a healthy respect from the cool kids.
I had different friendship groups - the nerds in my year group, those I played agony aunt to, and the middle streamers who I'd hang out with in my teens and go drinking and clubbing.
I had no idea how many people were covertly bullied til we had our school reunion and some flatly refused to come, or came with potential triggers. Some kids can be so cruel.

Usually found doing work outside the classroom rather than in it - unless the head was doing his catch the bad kids out rounds , when the librarian would let me pretend to be doing work in there. I had mates in all of the usual groups. I enjoyed school, but possibly not in the right way ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

"I was the one who stood up to the bullies picking on the younger ones "
Me too. I _DETEST_ bullies.
I was kind of the lone wolf at school (still am) - acquaintances with most people but not really friends with any one which meant I could see what was happening with a bit more detachment than most and also that I didn’t fear the “social” consequences of helping the “wrong” people.

A cross between village idiot and class clown and always in trouble for messing about, mainly because it was a way to fit in and deal with bullying both at school and out. I hated school and couldn't wait to be free of it, i've lost touch with everyone i was at school with and been a bit of a loner ever since. |

"I am still rather partial to the ol' panda eye look
Urgh show me face already
Can confirm. She is still every inch the girl all the skater boys would fancy.
Urgh you've met her in reals? Damn you lucky snake!"
Chatroom shenanigans I assume.
Either that, or I've finally found the fucker who keeps leaving pigs' heads on my pillow. |

Introverted. Still am but not as bad now. Had a large group of friends that we all used to play football together.
Started getting bullied by another pupil about two years below me. Luckily I had an older sister that sorted him out.
I think every school report said: Must do better. ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

I'm gonna have to guess that the likely culprit for that...is a pig farmer.

I was the quite kid who got bullied everyday because I had big ears (I had surgery couple of years ago to change them because I could never see past the bullying even in my 30's) But if it wasn't that it would have been something else. I didn't have any friends and was completely and totally miserable. I got straight A's up until year 10 when I met some friends who I'm still tight with. My grades went down and I stopped caring about anything.
Happiest day of my life was leaving school, I fucking hated every second of it.
Someone recently sent me a Facebook invite to a reunion I think I'm gonna go and face some demons. I'm not the same shy and timid kid I was then and bullies don't intimidate me anymore. |

I was shy and very quiet. My school reports said “Babs, Babs who?”
I was bullied my entire school life and that’s how I can sniff a bully out at twenty paces.
I like my circle of friends to be small, very small actually, and I still do.
I worked hard, kept my head down and looked forward to finishing school. |

Go get ’em. Stand tall, look ’em in the eye, and thank fuck you you turned out the way you did. |

There's a certain amount of satisfaction from escaping a small town in Cornwall, moving to London and having a successful career in film that I wouldn't mind going back and flexing. Petty? yes. Satisfying? Also yes. |

I was one of the cool kids. Probably because I had D cup boobs by the time I was 14. Top level for all the academic subjects. I used to push boundaries and cause mischief, just the right amount to have fun but not get into serious trouble though...mainly because I'd do all the work and teachers would just let me sit there waiting for everyone else to catch up rather than giving me the extra work that I was asking for, so I was bored.
Loved team sports, but we got banned from playing hockey when the third ambulance in a year was called...it was a rough school! |

"I bullied the bullies"
I saw my main bully 30 years after we left school - she looks largely the same so I knew who she was. I asked her if she was OK and she hadn't recognised me until I opened my mouth. At which point she went pale, her gob dropped open and she couldn't get away quick enough. I know it was 30 years in the making but seeing that reaction was oddly satisfying as it meant she realised she'd done wrong all those years ago. |

Tried to stay under the radar. Due to being horrifically bullied. The physical bullying I could handle, that was easy. It was the verbal & psychological bullying that was hard to handle. |

So sad to hear the number of people that hated school and we’re bullied for no reason whatsoever. Certainly resonates with my experience - it wasn’t until my A-Levels that I really began to feel part of things (in fact, they were two of the best years of my life). (Mr) |

I (dan) was an inbetweener but we both had our bullies ,I was accused and ridiculed for being guy even though I definitely wasn't ,I was just a bit quiet . The worst culprit ended up being my step brother through marriage when my dad shacked up with his mum .apart from the misery it was OK. |

"I was quiet, shy. A very easy target for bullies. I had the most horrendous and awful times at school. Actually breaks my heart thinking about little me.
I couldn't even focus on enjoying any subjects because the bullying was constant and debilitating.
" bet a lot wish they hadn’t of bullied you now if they could see you here |

"Love an ominous title no?
Anyway who were you in high school, were you in a clique? Popular? Nerd? Jock?
I was in a skater crowd who fancied girls with lots of eyeliner and vans. Got along with everyone to an extent but did find the 'cool' kids annoying as fuck.
Your turns! "
I was left well alone, somewhat crazy and out of control, not in a violent way, but the crazy stuff we did about the place made sure everyone kept away from us. It’s a legacy that still haunts my life even though it was some decades since I left school (no other pupils were injured as a result of our antics!!) ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

I was one of the only working class people in my year. Teachers and majority of pupils didn't like me.
The rugby wankers tried to bully me but that stopped when about 20 skinheads waited for them after school.
Teachers bullied me too but got away with it. Treated me like scum.
Just did enough to get what qualifications i needed. Left at 16 and don't see any one I was at school with. |
