From reading profile details and a few status updates, there seems to be some people who get irritated receiving Winks. Can anyone elaborate why this is??

Not irritated but sometimes bemused.

No public pictures, shadow avatar, fill in later bio and 150 miles away winking at us.

Why?

Some people see it as been unable to start a decent conversation IE lazy. Others see it as a polite hello.

Which I see it as a polite hello and respond

Because all women want is a meet now request, anything else is just teasing.

They winked so I'd assume a person would respond with a polite message

I love winks, I think they can be really cheeky. But I’d imagine if you have a lot of people winking you and not messaging it can be a bit frustrating.

People wink me and then I see I’m outside their age range so I can’t reach out. Now that’s a serious tease.

See I always thought winks were an indicator that you're interested in someone. I always send a wink first and if I get a wink back, I will send a message.

But everyone has their own interpretation so maybe they don't see it that way and I've been doing it wrong this whole time

I'd rather receive a 'Hi' than a wink..but I have been known to respond to winks too.

I thought if they sent a wink you can override filters?

I like a little wink, it's a good way of showing interest and I don't feel as bad if I don't return one as I do to not responding to a message.

The only time I get pissed off with winks is when people send them repeatedly. Unfortunately they can be sent again before 30 days if you delete the wink in question. Used to have a bloke who kept doing it every day, even when I told him to stop!! Obviously blocked now - Xeno

A wink is good way of saying I'm interested in meeting. Why bother to spend time messaging someone, and your message is left unopened, or recipients can't be bothered to reply. Myself I always like to message.

Exactly this we wink if we get one back we send a message, if they wink and we wink back they should send the message… at least that’s how we use them lol xx

I think they serve a purpose, someone who isn't in your age range you seek can message if you send them a wink...but I'm sure there are other benefits

I don't tend to look often as they're generally from people the opposite of what I'm looking for,ie married/other end of country/smokers.

No I wish, unless I’ve been doing something wrong ? In my experience I’ve never been able to get past peoples filters !

Yeah I'm almost certain that's the case! At the bottom of the message filter page it should say
