Sitting in the autumn sunshine this morning, I noticed a young dad and his boy (probably about three or four years old) collecting apples from a public park. The dad even climbed up one of the trees and it was really entertaining to watch the interaction between father and son. They were chatting about the cake they were going to make, then the little one needed a wee so dad had to come down from the tree he had just climbed after several attempts to launch himself up... The boy was full of worldly "Why" questions and they seemed so happy with being in each other's company.
Having finished they walked up to me to offer me some apples which I thought was another lovely gesture. I felt the urge to tell the dad that he looked and sounded like an amazing dad to have, which brought out a massive smile.
What happy event have you had or witnessed lately? |

I read a thing on Reddit.
A man had no child care one day so took his 7 year old daughter out on her bike while he tried to do his usual run. Half way through she stopped and said "dad, this is the best day of my life"
He ended it by saying "if anybody needs me I'm out buying a pony" |

"My son told me just sitting around spending time with me was the best thing.
Im sure his opinion will change once he hits his teenage years."
Absolutely precious moments - we won't get them back in the same way once they are grown up.
Not saying you cannot have great moments with your kids at any time in life but there is something very special about that innocent spontaneity with which they acknowledge you at a young age, isn't there? |

That is hysterical... wondering whether the pony was going to take his place or the daughter was going to ride it... |

"Been singing songs with my son today and going to movies together later, the uncomplicated nature of youth reminds us how spontaneous fun can be!" Doesn't it just.....it seems a million miles away from inflation, crises, wars, and politics... so healthy, so healing! |

Footloose and fancy free, dropping all your cares really does make you feel better. |

Time spent with my son is hands down the best time I have. Football and pillowfights today, den-building last week, maybe baking gingerbread men tonight. Just the most innocent, pure love in all the world. I'm banking every beautiful second against the inevitable time when I become the most embarrassing man in the world. |

And after that embarrassing time, the previously built relationship will return in a different but also loving format. |

You may be the most embarrassing man in the world for a bit but it swings back round again. |

Hey Grandads or Dads... does not matter. What DOES matter is that you have a great relationship with him.
Children are not brought up by their parents alone but by their grandparents and extended family, neighbours, schools etc. That is another fab experience you described there. |

This is so true!!! And I’m loving watching the relationship my parents have with my kids, nephews & nieces change & grow.

Welling |
I go skiing with my boys every year for last 6 years. Always only 3 of us. Their mum resisted to go even when we were married so when we split we kept going 3. This year I told them we probably will skip ski holiday as I am little bit busy. They said our ski holidays are the best holidays and they always look forward to it. My heat is melted, I am going to find at least 3-4days for it |
