does what you put in your subject line make any difference to getting your message opened quicker do you think

I think it can make a difference.

If I can see the 1st line and it just says Hi there, Meet now, Are you free, How's fab treating you or a new commen one sex? Then I probably will not be opening it and it will go straight into the deleted messages vortex never to be seen again.

what would be a good one to put in x

I like to see something related to my status, or something on my profile so I know they've actually read it. Also reduces the chances of a standard copy/paste job a bit

"what would be a good one to put in x"

That's where it gets tricky because what my appeal to me wouldn't to another person. I think the key is to make it look appealing and worth opening.

Honestly I've had several messages recently that I have literally just said

Sex?

For me, a good head line would be something they picked out of the profile rather than non-specific compliments and cut and paste.

We don't get that many messages, so tend to open and read them before even noticing the subject

when people ask a question or comment in the subject line and then just put something like hi in the message box ... we often miss the question or comment

I often struggle with that first impression especially with the message headline.

How about,

I Dare you to read this ?

Or

If you dont read this, the kitten gets it ?

I generally use, Your pictures are beautiful or a compliment about their staus, profile or pics.

It is so difficult to make that important first impression, especially in writting.

The 1st one would make me delete it the 2nd one would make me curious as to what the message contained so I'd probably open it.

The kitten one would make me laugh so I'd have a look.

Also it makes it easier to find the message if the rest of the inbox is full of subject lines like

Hi

Hi

Hi

X

Sex

X

Hi

Sex hi

If you don't read this the kitten gets it!

Hi

Xx

Hi

Do a forum search for profile advice.

I actually hardly pay attention to the subject line. I mostly look at the message but imagine the 2 are quite interlinked

It doesn't to us because we are not inundated. Most messages only contain two or three words and we can see those fully in the preview. If that's all somebody has written it's most likely to go in the bin. If somebody has written more then we'll read it. It's not really down to the subject.

The vast majority of messages are pointless crap that go straight in the bin.
