The 3 times I’ve been to a place where it’s fine dining /much star/ Celeb chef etc. yes. It was definitely worth it.
I want to do it again, it’s been far too long.

"Always wondered what makes it that extra special. I know you pay for it but in your opinion is it worth it . "
They can be worth it.
Its an experience, not just food. The service, the food, the presentation, the ambiance … its everything.
The main thing is the company you take, as that can make or break the evening.

I've eaten at a few in the past, never been dissapointed by poorly prepared, cooked or presented food.
Always had good service.
Like everything, you get what you pay for.

There is one by where I live and you can never get a seat in there they are booked up for a while. went once and to be quite frank the food was very tasty but just wasn’t enough I understand it’s all about flavours but not good when you come out not full filled. |

Just like any restaurant, it can vary. Mostly good experiences for me before but it's the whole experience that counts rather than just the food which as someone has mentioned already can often leave you wanting more unfortunately. These days I prefer a really good restaurant, I can relax and enjoy a good meal and a little banter with the service staff a d in good company with either friends or family. |

I worked in one Busman. A lot of smoke and mirrors but overall good nosh. Worked for Rick Stein too. A lot of bollocks. Frozen Dover Sole for £32 quid. No sides either. At the time Iceland sold it for £8. Same fucking fish, frozen. |

Been to quite a few but these days I go to wherever is decent, the stars are an ego thing.
For example i think bentleys oyster bar does best seafood in London but don't think it has a Michelin star |

Cost wise I guess its comparable with a lot of big concerts now - they can be over £100 a ticket! I would definitely recommend it for a special occasion if you can afford it. |

I've always found it strange that the tyre company is where is the Michelin star rating came from.
Something as mundane as car tyres with a goofy mascot is behind the poshest and highest regarded restaurants in the world

It started as a road guide but still has a thing for French style restaurants. Apparently its a lonely life being a reviewer. |

"I once had a Michelin tasting menu. It was the best meal of my life and definitely worth the money"
Always best to go for the tasting menu, especially if it's your first time. They usually put a lot of effort into that. A sort of marketing, I suppose. |
