Warm - Marrakech, amazingly interesting city. Get a hotel / riad with a pool. Short flight and same time zone as UK.
Cold - go to a German Christmas market, Cologne or Nuremberg

I dont do holidays i see it as a big waste of money and a huge stress to get away from the stress then end up more stressed at what i spent when i get home than when i left so may as well stay home |

Copenhagen,
Paris,
Lisbon,
Madrid,
Barcelona,
Rome,
Amsterdam
Iceland is really cool to go to around Christmas time I think!

Oh warmth just go as close to the equator as you can 
For 4 days I personally wouldn't consider a flight over 4 hours so best I could do is Canary Islands |

When I looked one year for a December holiday I remember the Canaries was the top choice for short ish flight, not too expensive, and the best warmth. Really searched so many options but the Canaries seemed like it ticked all boxes for winter sun.
If you’re only going for a few days you don’t want a long flight I guess? |

You want Madeira, Marrakech, or Cape Verde. The first is lush and tropical,the second stunning - definitely stay in a proper riad if you can - and both have great scenery and food. The third will be warm and rarer for cool points, but not so gorgeous.
I'd go for Madeira if it's a few days, and do the 25 Fontes walk for a waterfall bathe on a volcano. Stay at the CS Atlantic, built like an ocean liner with porthole windows and an epic spa, and try the espada - scabbard fish with bananas. |
