I remember getting a right strip on cos my brother got a proper good cricket bat and my parents wouldn’t buy me one, he was three years older than me and I guess they weren’t certain I would keep an interest in the game to warrant paying out the money.

Which as an adult I now totally understand

But I did get a big cuddly elephant, which my father thought a very strange request from a boy who should have grown out of cuddly toys… I have still got that cuddly elephant!
