More and more films are using contemporary and classic songs in films and trailers, updated versions like the use of Seasons In The Sun by Terry Jacks in the just released trailer for John Wick 4.

So what's your favourite film soundtrack, Or favourite use of a song old/new in a trailer?

My choice...

Movie soundtrack - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol #1 soundtrack is peppered with classics.

Movie trailer - the original Suicide Squad used Bohemium Rhapsody brilliantly, shame the film was so shit.

South Manchester

Most of the John Hughes films from the eighties, Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Pretty In Pink, Some Kind Of Wonderful had brilliant soundtracks.

Loads of contemporary artists like Yello, New Order, The Smiths and my favourite cover version ever by a band call Lick The Tins.

I like movies with their own scores, everyone knows the star wars theme, Jurassic park is awesome too, I'm not a harry potter fan but instantly recognise the tune... an original score can be a character in itself, setting the tone, building tension or excitement, turning something awesome into something epic... playing regular pop songs just doesn't have the same impact and is usually just a pop culture thing.

Guardians of the galaxy was ok though, new Thor film was just a the best of guns and roses playlist

For original scores

" Who's the black private dick That's a sex machine to all the chicks?"

and most of the leading Blaxploitation films.

Wattstax but it is a concert movie.

Almost anything by Hans Zimmer.

If you go mixtape any of the 90's African American films from BoyzN In the Hood, to HouseParty, to New Jack City, Above the Rim, Juice, Boomerang to name a few that had great compilations of contemporary black music.

Also honourable mention to Quentin Tarantino's Films: Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown and Reservoir Dogs.
