Anyone been recently?

We’re going but have no idea what’s on or what’s good at the moment.

Cheeseville, Somerset

Specific cinemas or films?

Our local is a small place, £4 a ticket at all times and worlds away from the big chains. We love it.

As for films? Not a clue, sorry.

Haven't had time to go recently but am looking forward to the new Black Pnther flick out on the 11th.

We looked this week and whilst our local is not one of the bigger chains it only has on the same, mostly for kids or romantic comedy type stuff..

Maybe the smaller independents depending upon location are a better choice..

Not really helped have I..

Might give it a rain check looking at the current listings!

Not even sure there’s that much on at the minute.

Unless you like your marvel/DC films.

Think black Adam is on and black panther this weekend.

Cheers.

Looked at black Adam but doesn’t seem like the type of thing we’d enjoy.

We ended up seeing a very quintessentially British film featuring Bill Nighy.

Living.

We would recommend the film if you have a free afternoon and enjoy the work of the actor previously mentioned.

We had some delicious sweet popcorn and a large carbonated cola flavoured drink.

Daft, far-fetched superhero action movie.

As they go, it’s watchable. It’s not Ironman 2, but it’s no Ironman 1, either.

Maybe the best DC one, certainly the most fun.

Went to see Banshees of Inisherin a few weeks back. A good film, but my god, it’s bleak. We were expecting a bit more light and dark like In Bruges. Worth a watch, but probably not one for a first date

The Town by The Cross

Recently I have been to see .....

The Banshees of Inisherin. A story told by a true teller though observation of human emotion , conflict and absurdity. The film was a tremendous metaphor for joy, pain , love, war , stupidity, stubborness , superstition isolaltion and the perversion and twisting of human behaviour in the absence of freedom and stimulus. Well worth a watch if you have the capacity to see it for what it is and not expect a few cheap camera tricks. The acting was nothing short of astonishing from all involved.

I also saw 'Living' with Bill Nighy. Superbly acted. A timely tale to let us know not to leave 'love' too late. Love of self and humanity that is. An excellent illustration of how we value the wrong things in life and put on our straight jackets willingly , so powerful is the calling of respectability and duty. It is also a good vehicle for realising how we pigeon hole, stereotype and judge. A theatre so still - we could hear each other breathing.

The Town by The Cross

I really enjoyed Where the crawdads sing..... I never expected the ending again a very well told story of social class, gender, abuse , misogyny, judgement , snobbery , elitism and when crossing that moral boundary to commit a heinous crime is sometimes a necessary truth ...... such a powerful line in the 'the marsh knows all about sin and doesn't necessarily define it as tragedy'
