I read an interesting article about it and apparently yes they do, it seems that it have to do with that women have more feelings and longing towards having one, what do you think about it, do you agree with that it is down to the feelings? I agree with it |

I’m no expert at all but is it because women have a more limited child bearing window than men, hence realise the need / urgency to reproduce before that clock hits 12? |

All women are different the same as men are. Some women want kids and some like me it was never a priority in my life I never felt that strong urge to have any,and I never wanted to be a single mum,so I didn't have any and when I was in my early 40s I realised it would not happen. I don't regret that for a minute either.
I know quite a few men who wanted kids really badly, one to the point it was all he spoke about. So no I don't agree that women are the ones who feel the urge to have kids more. .Bo. |

It's an individual thing tbh , some men and women are more maternal than others , if a guy is with a maternal woman and if she has kids the guy slips down the pecking order fairly swiftly, just my tuppence worth, it's just a natural thing to happen, sometimes it happens without even knowing it does. |

Judging by the thread from the other day which I couldn't post on - it's the other way around! All the women were saying how they were glad to have bypassed childrearing, whilst the men lamented not pumping them out into double figures
One wonders if this reveals who the majority of the grunt work would fall on |

"Probably more the ingrained expectation that we will bear children "
Yep. I'm always reminding people that there's literally no biological clock that can be proven through science. It's just the often crushing weight of it being "the done thing" that pushes women to do it! |

I don't know about all men but my ex certainly stated those feeling of wanting a child more than me at the end of our relationship even though she was very strongly advised by multiple medics not to have them.
It became just another of the many, many things to shout at me. |

My mum reminded me every minute that sex was evil amd not to get pregnant as a teenager and in my early 20's..and was then surprised that i didn't want children after all |

I would have loved to have kids but I didn't meet anyone at the right time for it to happen, the older I get the more I have to accept that it's probably not going to happen.
The only time I felt pressure about it was after my brother died. |

Good lord!! Yes, can't imagine how that related one bit a lot of my decision is based on the suffering I went through growing up...all my friends say I would make a lovely mum - being a lovely friend is a tad different! |

For me yes! Found it my purpose in life! But not every women does! My 30 year old daughter said from very early age she never wants any! And that won't change! I know her well enough to know that! Which is fine my first great grandchild arrived weds and she is dreading the thought of having to see him! More the thought of holding him I think! I find it strange as I'm completely the opposite! But I respect how she feels x |

I always knew I wanted kids, always, it was just a certainty. So equally I can totally understand how people would just know it's not for them.
I never put a number on it. Ended up with 4 but would have carried on only the marriage was dead in the water for various reasons.
Regardless of my thoughts on the ex, they are the one thing I'll forever appreciate from the years I gave to that endeavor. |

Neither of us were particularly pushed about kids when we met. I waant overly maternal but we wouldnt be without them now. Still get broody af but we both know having more is out of the question. Only thing that pisses us off is when people ask when am i gonna give him a boy. Like i decide that |

I wouldn't dream of trying to speak on behalf of all women as its wrong to generalise, but I have several female friends who didn't have children, some were hetro some not.
For me, the urge to have a child was overwhelming at 18 until my second was born in 1988 when I was 28, which, at the time was considered quite elderly to be going into labour.
Guess it depends on the nature of the relationship with the father as to whether the mother wants to raise the child alone or not.
Have to say it crossed my mind at times to break away and do it solo but most of the difficulty was the differences in my cultural background and his. Glad to say we made it work. But many can't. Nobody has the right to judge in my humble opinion.
I do wonder if nature is somehow population controlling itself because the younger generation I have contact with are not parents still much later in life! Just an observation based on our 3 lads and many of their friends. |

This.
I remember that when Theresa May was running for Prime Minister She came under criticism because she didn't have children and some circles that didn't qualify her to be Prime Minister, I'm not sure a man would have faced the same scrutiny in relation to this. |

I had no urges a ever to have children, but my long term partner at the time wanted one, so we did.
Oddly enough I only ever felt strong urges to have children after I had one, it wasn't to be, and in hindsight that turned out for the best. |

I didn't want children until I was told I couldn't have one anyway. That made me really think about why I didn't want kids. Boiled down to being bullied as a child and my mum being an evil bitch. Sat here with my 4 month old ivf bubba praying I don't turn into my mother.
My Dad would of had a football team of kids if it was up to him. So personally I think it depends on the person not the gender |

“Oh you need to try for a boy” I get that all the time as well. Acting like you’ve failed in some way. Really pisses me off too!. |

It's difficult to compare the biological drives of men and women and even more difficult to weigh up the psychological and sociological differences that make them want children or not.
Royals entered my head when thinking about this. Once married a royal woman shells like she's podding peas. I believe they'd be less willing to swell the brood if they raised their own off spring without help or financial benefit.
It's easier for men to fall in love with the idea of being a multiple producer as they will never be pregnant. |

Nothing to do with sex, it's very much down to the person. There are people who have always had a desire to have children since they could remember, men and women.
I've always been judged for not wanting children or fullfilling my womanly duties to breed. You always get the patronising 'you'll change your mind when your older'. Never have been maternal and never will be unless they have four legs and a tail. |

Please link me to studies on the biological clock! That is, not the one related to circadian rhythm |

If the clock refers to the fact women aren't fertile for as long, then that makes sense |

I have children myself but I have never had any interest whatsoever in coo,ing over other peoples babies. I was told that I am off for this. |

I had an overwhelming need to be a Mother. I put all my energy into the children (now adults), he resented that. I wanted a partner but, he expected me to look after him like a child. I would choose kids over men and now I choose my grandchildren over men. I have relationships on my terms. Ms |

In my circle of family and friends it was a given that you got married and had children as soon as.
Some of us had children then got married and had more.
I don't think any of the men were opposed to being a father and they're all doing very well at fatherhood.
Might be different now or with the higher classes.

I think the urge correlates to desire to have children, pressure from various people etc |
