Tomorrow I shall be going through the arduous task of trying to get a dentist appointment after one of my teeth decided that half of said tooth no longer wanted to be attached to the rest.
Last time I went was a fucking nightmare as I hadn't been to my previous dentist in over two years ( I was avoiding due to covid and lockdowns etc)
They kicked me off their list so had to find a new one earlier this year.
Once again it's another way of being ripped off,they are getting away with charging whatever the hell they like.
Ok I get that they are highly qualified and so on.
But it's not like we have the option to do it ourselves.
Sorry just had to vent as it's coming up to Xmas and it's expenses I could do without. |

We can’t even get an appointment for a check up if we’ve had one within 4 years!! That’s because the practice took all the other local surgery's patients during lockdown as the only one with ventilation.
I’d happily pay private but that doesn’t guarantee you any better service! |

I had this. No message before hand to pre warn. Yes they trained and yes they were happy to take on NHS patients when they were dependent on that NHS money. Now my area has more people that can afford private treatment they are kicking out all the NHS patients.
Private treatment should not cost what it does!!!! |

Try to get an emergency appointment, think it's about £23 for emergency treatment I had to do it a few months ago was on hold (111) for about an hour but when I spoke to someone I got an appointment immediately & they pulled the tooth that my own dentist kept saying there wasn't a problem despite me saying there was for months & months |

I do think it should be regulated and have fixed prices.
But even at the cheaper end of the scale over a thousand pounds for a root canal is ridiculous.
I'm sure one of the regulars will be along shortly to blame Brexit. |

I'd just ring the emergency dentist if I were you and get them to pull it  we can't get a dentist around here / afford one so i've had to use 111 several times recently (TMD issues), you just pay £22 upfront and they sort whatever needs doing. |

I had a root canal done just before Christmas last year on the NHS for just over £65. |

Dentistry has never been completely included within the NHS. When the NHS was founded, dentistry was pretty rudimentary and so the system hasn't caught up with the developments in the specialism. |
