Air Fryers, what's with those.
Jump to: Newest in thread
Hot topic I know.
Heard it on the news, a site crashed as people trying to buy them. Yes, been hearing many people talk about them lattey, had a look a few weeks back and all out of stock even if I wanted one.
Are they that good? If so why now, is it simply the energy saving?

They never look big enough. Two little baskets to shove all your food in. And by the time you've paid the price of uying one, may aswell just use your oven. |

For a large family the size of them is small indeed, and depends on what somebody considers reasonablenportions. Some people have far too much per serving, some barely have any.
For 1 to 3 people and it is close to perfect.
Food is ready much faster and great quality just as much as the oven and far more energy efficient.
Did the past 2 Christmas dinners in the ninja. Served 3 people perfectly. |

Quicker than an oven as heats up really quick and keeps the heat in and so more energy efficient as not heating all the time
No good for traditional roasts though but great for in the week cooking and can do a cooked breakfast in it.
I did cheese on toast in mine the other day delicious |

They arent ! I always use both shelves in the oven and cook large dishes which I can part freeze. Would take me longer and use more energy in an air fryer. |

I use a microwave with a convection fan oven function. Also have a steamer for use in the microwave. Use this for veg and rice. Unsure if an air fryer would be an advantage over this so I'd be interested in any thoughts. |

It’s fine for things with juices in like chicken on bone but it will dry out other foods.
Doesn’t do fried plantain or onion bhajees well.
I just use the one cal oils and regular fry or oven cook it’s much better for most things. |

"Single drawer ones are no good for a complete meal. Great for chips, bacon, steak, never tried chicken in it though"
Good for chicken wings , they aren’t great at cooking a chicken breast or something like that |

Average oven is about 60 litre, the average air fryer is about 10 litre. Huge difference in how much you can cook in each and also air circulation, dryness, etc. |

Bought one 3 years ago and hardly ever use the oven anymore. Family of three and it is plenty big enough for most meals. We use a convection microwave for a joint or baking. Much cheaper and a lot quicker than using our oven. |

Perfect for reheating left over chips from the chippie!
If you do them in a microwave they get hot but are soggy.
Reheat in an air fryer and they are as good as the day before!
I also like my air fryer for warning slightly stale bread.
I had a petit pan roll I warmed in it earlier and the roll came out nice warm and best of all... Crisp! |

I use mine almost every day now. It's a big dual Tefal rotating one. I make chips in it from raw potatoes, they come out quite nice. And I use it to cook breaded fish and reheat chicken portions. It is much more economical than before when I used the oven. X |
