Gunpowder Park for me, seems fitting on the 5th November.
Local half marathon on Sunday and had cross country last weekend but enjoying a big block of running ahead of a couple of events later this month that I'll either be ill fir or flying depending on how I judge the trainibg |

C is marshaling tomorrow as she has a slight hamstring strain and doesn't want to push it now we are into marathon training.
I will be running and hoping to get some of my speed back after a few weeks struggling with a k ee issue. |

Gunpowder parkrun saw about 350 people tourist an event that normally has little more than a 100 runners!
Mixed run for me, comfortably in the first 20% of finishers and 39 seconds off my last time running there so happy enough with that. But something that's never happened to me at any race or parkrun before today happened with sone tosser trying to push past me on the inside despite a ton of room on my outside, 2 shoulder barges later and he called me a wanker as he passed me! |

I’ve not done a park run in ages and usually run full off road trail, but last Wednesday after all the rain we’d had I decided use my local park run course.
Well pleased with a sub 30 and sub 10 min miles. Chuffed to bits as it’s been a hard year with injury and weight gain. Might even get up early one Saturday |

Despite feeling rough all week and not feeling great today a course PB and only 20 seconds off my all time PB (on a much faster course) for me today, got to be happy with that!
Multiple Kona Ironman podium finisher and former half iron-man world champion Lucy Charles-Barclay was at ours today, and at the other end we had parkwalkers walking in jeans and walking shoes. To me those 2 extremes are wjat makes parkrun so special |

I did the park run earlier. Love the idea it takes all and everyone on the same course.
But it’s also these large groups I don’t like and why I don’t run them on a Saturday. |

I love the camaraderie of lots of different people coming together with a shared love/interest. All ages, sizes, levels of fitness etc. I had to take three breathers as I did my run yesterday, but each time I slowed to a walk, someone asked if I was ok, and encouraged me to keep going…. |

I need to start park run back up again. I’d love to get sub 20 again but the last time I did that I was 11.5 stone and quite skinny and my focus was just cardio. Prefer lifting now and I’m 2 stone heavier so my goal is sub 25
Love park run though the atmosphere it’s a great free event. Have also marshalled before |

Course PB by a second today, also my best effort pacing this course, its two laps and my solitsbon all the strava segments are pretty much identical on both laps. I'm 25 seconds away from my all time PB and hopeful I may get that in the new year, at the moment I'm in a purposeful big block of training and am running in tired legs. When I have a couple of recovery weeks I'm hoping to feel the benefit.
My partner was a volunteer parkwalker today and completely changed my mind on that role, it's brilliant they've introduced! |

NYE I did one on the way to meet a kinky walking group. It was hilly and muddy, a shit course in a shit park and one I had no interest in doing but it was 5 minutes from where we were meeting at 10 so logistically made sense. It was shit.
Today I did a local one that I tend to avoid because it's also hilly and muddy but it's a stunning course and i loved it!
Both times were 4-5 minutes slower than normal amd I still finished comfortably in the first third of the field which shows how tough they were! |

It can be cliquey, as people chat to their friends (I've made lots of friends at parkrun) before.
But I do try to welcome first timers and tourists. |

I think parkrun is naturally but unintentionally cliquey because people gravitate towards their clubs and friends.
By a good event, for newbies I was thinking more of ones with lots of slower runners and walkers. I've noticed this year, (ive touristed lots because my old home run never restarted after covid) some haveva greater spread of ability than others, specifically those in towns and cities rather than those out in the sticks have a much bigger spread of abilities. |

You will find someone to ‘buddy up’ with I’m sure! Parkrun is genuinely for everyone, whether serious, competitive runners, ‘Couch to 5K’ groups, or general ‘get off my arse and get round eventually’ people It doesn’t matter, just go and enjoy yourself!
What happens once you get in to the routine is, as you amble/walk/run around, once the pack settles down, you end up surrounded by people of a similar ability, and just get chatting to spur each other along. There’s tea/coffee and cake at our local when you’ve finished, so more opportunities to chat and get to know people. It’s very social, and everyone starts somewhere |

As a 'runner' being passed by walkers, I know what you mean.
I visited one challenging run through woods, where I was with the tail runner at 40 minutes.
My home run is normally not finished in an hour, due to the spread of abilities. |

Morning Fabulous Parkrun people.
It's been a while since I've been here and tbh this is the first forum post in maybe a year too
So this year at parkrun the strangest things started happening. I found some speed. Ended up taking the first finishers chip 10 times at my local run. 18 minutes became a regular result (it's a trail one with lots of twists and turns). I started coaching others to their PBs and seriously consider training up as an official trainer.
From a first parkrun a few years ago of 38 minutes to take 20 minutes and change off it. I love everything about parkrunning.
Now I'm on 96 and today will be 97. Looking forward to hitting 100.
Good luck everyone doing there runs today. I'll be back to see how you got on. |

I think if I were going slow it would be skins. |

We're braving the cold to Marshal . No marshals no Parkrun! It's great running conditions, nice and dry compared to lately. |

I’ve been park running for the last 15 months. Almost every weekend. Not tomorrow though as I’m still pretty ill.
I have even done it in Brisbane and that’s a tough route! |

Not done a ParkRun since they stopped during Covid. I really need to get me arse back to ParkRun. |

Went yesterday and going to one tomorrow. Planning to do both next weekend too, 4 different locations.
Definitely need to do more volunteering next year for it too. |

I did one parkrun then covid happened. Since then, been on and off running for various reasons. I hate running outside when weather isn't good which rules out oct to April. |

Parkrunner here, Wendover Woods is my usual, but always happy to combine some tourism and play if any women want to recommend their local run |
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big) | |
Bracknell is my local course. Do a fair bit of tourism as the course gets a tad heavy in the winter. Heading over the Homewood Parkrun in the morning for my 20th different course. 233 parkruns so far and going to Bushey to celebrate my 250th |

Went back to my local parkrun yesterday for first time in18 months. Time was slow for me, but without no training or warm up I knew a sub 40 was out the question. Managed to get a shade under 45. Not bad considering the root was changed to what I think was harder to accommodate some work done in the park |

Today i volunteered for the first time as I have had groin surgery last week
It was a pleasure, and I even signed to a lady who was deaf and we spoke in sign
I was at a random parkrun that never been to but I enjoyed it. Got to play music. And have a bit of dance and clap when being a marshal |

Hope you're feeling a bit better this week.
I do course set up and briefings, allows me to run. But well done for volunteering.
So it's that time of the week. People fueling up for their run/jog/walk round the 5k course. I wish you good luck. I'll be taking it easy as I've a propper race tomorrow. |

I volunteered again at a different park run this morning. My groin is getting there after surgery - still no running for 2 weeks - but ended up pulling knee in the week so no running even if I wanted to.

Morning Fab Parkrunners.
Good luck today on whatever your chosen goal is.
I'll be heading out to Gloucester in what is one of the only non flooded ones in my area.
Tomorrow I'm off for the 10k so it's just a leg spin this morning.
Have fun all. |

New course for me today, wasn’t sure if ankle would hold up as it was strapped up, due to a ankle roll last Saturday night (I was sober)
Quickest run of the year not bad after 4 weeks off with surgery as well wanted to get in the 40-42 min bracket ended up 43 still a bit slower than I would like |

"We're still Parkrunning, we volunteer occasionally too. Any regular Parkrunners, please volunteer even if once or twice a year, you'll never have had so many "thanks" in one hour
Still running too, and volunteering occasionally (usually after a big night out, like works Xmas party, etc)
Just completed west didlands (again)"
New parkruns popping up, so need to chase the regionnaire badge again
But someone on my hot list posted a pic as a hi-viz hero, and it makes her even hotter |

I'm dreadful now in relation to running. I've done 2 marathons and countless 10ks plus over 150 parkruns now. I got long covid which makes my breathing and heart rate stupid when exercising. Die to this, I've missed more parkruns this year than actually done. I miss it but do need to try get back. Dead envious of thise that still rin and can get out there x |

Raced a 10m multi terrain race today.
I struggle with PR. It’s the no number bit…I’m very competitive.
I think PR is a great idea. I’m sure it’s many people’s 1st foray into running. It gets people off their bum and they realise what a great sport running is. |

I'm doing my 100th run tomorrow and the storm isn't going to put me off.
I love park run. It's changed my life both physically and mentally. My first park run was 35 minutes. I set a PB two weeks ago of 21:45.
Never miss a park run now unless on holiday. |
