When did putting decorations up early become the “in” thing.

12 days before and 12 days after was the rule in my parents home when I was growing up.

It seems now as soon as the Americanized Halloween decorations are down the Christmas ones are up!

We usually out ours up the weekend before Christmas and take them down on 5th Jan or before. I have friends who put theirs up 1/12 and used to work with someone who put them up 1/11. I think Christmas has strayed so far from its original meaning that it doesn't really matter.

With a cracking view

Christmas starts when Blue Peter light the first candle on their Advent Crown !

I'm not 'Bah Humbug' about Crimbo, I don't like it starting when Hallowe'en is finished.

Let's face it. It's nothing to do with Christs Mass. It's all to do with capitalism and commercialism and if Marksies have their ad out two months before Christmas to push their wares you will just have to lump it ...

Mince Pie anyone ?

I usually put my tree up the last week in November. Things are a bit pants recently so if people want to put their tree up earlier than normal because it makes them happy why not?

I had Muppets Christmas Carol on in June.
