A professor from a University in Oxford which is the capital of Oxfordshire argues that because of the suffering that meat eaters inflict on animals that vegans are not obliged to save them, rescue them or give first aid. That's Tom's interpretation of the article.
It's all over the news but is the reverse true. Should Tom help a vegan in distress... |

Surely part of the reason someone's a vegan is compassion and caring for others?
So it seems kind of counterintuitive for them to allow anyone to die
Also how does that work practically - someone's having a heart attack 'oh excuse me do you eat meat?, Can't administer CPR until I know' |

Yes that's just what we need Tom. More divisions. If we could separate them into straight and gay and black and white male and female the world will be much more harmonious. |

I am unsure anyway how much that aliens from the star Vega like human beings, we do not have the best record for welcoming people that are a different colour to us. So not surprising that Vegans might not give us the kiss of life, but possibly wise if they breathe chlorine or something. |

Who's Tom?
Anyway, humans are animals. No matter my thoughts about meat eaters, I wouldn't want one to suffer. Unless they asked for infliction of suffering! |

Because Vegans are green with three arms and they breathe chlorine. Which is why getting mouth-to-mouth resuscitation from a Vegan is not a good idea in the first place. |

Nothing wrong with them being green, and the three arms are definitely an advantage doing the heart massage, but the chlorine breath leaves a nasty taste in your mouth... |

Does swallowing make a person a cannibal?
If a vegan gave mouth to mouth to a non-vegan, have they broken their abstinence if they swap spit?
Perhaps we all ought to wear wrist bands. Green bands can only shop in places owned by greens. Blues can only marry blues. You get the picture.
What a wonderful world it'd NOT be |

More likely when the giant conglomerates have bought up all the meat producers and then cut production.
Then, with all plants being grown in factories due to soil degradation, they can charge wtf they want for an impossibly nutrionless meal. |

"To be fair...it's a valid point..
As far as I know not many people go around proudly proclaiming that they eat chicken but for some reason...."
Yeah but the irony that even more people make the same joke over and over.
I've never actually heard anybody loudly proclaiming they were vegan. I've heard people loudly talking about what meat they'll eat my whole life. |

I know I've genuinely never heard anyone loudly proclaim they're vegan. The only time I'll ever mention it is someone offers me something not vegan then it has to be said. |

I sometimes allude to it when discussing restaurant choice - i.e. I’d suggest something vegan, as it’s much more fun for me. |

Maybe counterintuitive, but also logical: if we care about total happiness in the world, both now and in the future (unfortunately we can’t change the past), then it’s makes sense not to save non-vegans.
Except in practice. Better strategy not to annoy everyone and to appear “nice”.
But I’m guessing the philosopher was just having a fun little ironic frolic. |
