Which accents Tom?... Geordie is normally top of the pops in the accent polls that folk like. Scots are popular too (unless 'broad', which isn't disliked, but some require a translator  ) |

I mock everyones accents it entertains me if im telling a story it needs an accent il add it except if its welsh for some reason i end up sounding like im indian

It's the same with Scottish accents - there are big differences right across Scotland. You just have to 12 miles north of where we live and the dialect has a very distinct change to whats called Doric. |

I don't think you lot are taking this issue at all seriously. The woman being interviewed this morning was highlighting the total lack of accent diversity in many of our top companies, in education and in the judiciary. She helpfully suggested how an acceptable ratio of cockney, scouse, geordie, gangsta rappers and Alan Carr soundalike accents in the workplace would create a more motivated and productive environment |

I met a girl once who, I think we were flirting, but she had such a strong Irish accent I couldn't understand much of what was going on |

I saw an accents map alongside this story and the whole of the Midlands was blank apart from a little splodge over Birmingham. Do they think nobody speaks in the other 28,500 square kilometers of the region? |

To me, Newport is very similar to Cardiff (a Welsh accent that’s pretty unique) with a hint of West Country.
I’ve had comments about my Welsh accent all my life. It’s almost always lighthearted, but I do find it a bit wearing sometimes.
I do love having it though . |

Never been mocked at work for my accent but once having drinks with a lad off here, he couldn't understand what I was saying and imitated the way I sounded mockingly...also commenting I sounded like a German! Double whammy! |

Yes!. Anytime we ever go out of Scotland people always tell us we speak too fast or they can’t understand us. We’ve also been told from other Scot’s that a fife accent is one of the worst . |

I have the ability to change my accent to sound similar to the person I am talking to.
It isnt something I do knowingly, but just happens. So dont ofteb get mocked.
The only time people say something is if im in England visiting family and take a phone call from a Welsh person back home. Then I get all the comments about my accent.
They always attempt it too, and always end up sounding Indian for some reason |

I also change my accent and elocution depending on which groups of people I am mixing with. Half the battle is trying to remember which ones I use with which groups sometimes ! (It's not that hard really !). Though being a listener and not a talker, it's rarely an issue. |

Never heard our accent mocked, has been likened to london accent(sounds nothing like it)
Mocked for one word though....
Its called many a thing all over but its still a BATCH where im from and thats a totally different thread NOT to start
