I have to say Musk becomes more like some weird postmodern Bond villain the more I find out about him.
He wasn't really on my radar until fairly recently but fuck me the guy is a more than a bit weird and this whole Twitter thing is coming off like a major ego trip.
I can't help thinking he has other ambitions (reminds me of the guy in ‘Don’t look up’) and wondering when the turn to politics comes…
What do people think? |

I quite like the fact that he pretty much gives zero fucks, although I guess being the world’s richest man you can be like that!
I think he said today he’s getting complaints from both left wing and right wing Twitter so he must be doing something right

Imagine having so much money that you can do anything you want.
The novelty must wear off at some point. There must come a point when nothing challenges you, and it all gets kind of boring?
I think he’s just trying to keep himself busy. |

He started off with nothing. Bullied at school for being a geek in apartheid South Africa. A brutal experience if you are a nerd in the 80s.
He has been rolling the dice ever since the start the internet. He made a decent amount of money from PayPal in the first dot com boom. He then basically took _ALL_ of that money and sunk it into things that he believe will be needed to save humanity - namely setting up a community on a different planet. He wants to go to Mars. That was his _stated_ goal when he created Space X.
Tesla and the battery businesses are just outcomes needed to drive that planetary business forward - robotics and energy storage. He came _very_ close to going bankrupt with Space X on multiple occasions but he has now revolutionised multiple industries by taking things back to the very first principles and then building new ways of working from that. You have to give him maximum credit for that.
I don’t get the Twitter thing but the way he has changed the space business in the last two decades is truly amazing. |

It's all about him, similar to that other US bellend, the orange one. He may leave some benefits but he could certainly use his talent and money, to far better ends. As such, he's not particularly interesting. |
