mad and not fab related but need advice
issues with emergency accom now in temp thank god but issues over a missing microwave
and was told they would check on cctv ... didnt have a clue cctv on property no notices and had someone over for sex twice . wondering if we have been filmed lol and is this illegal
same landlord has been in flat without notice and walked in on me getting changed after a shower |

No that is not legal .
Landlord has no rights to came to property with out advanced notice .
He needs to call ask if is ok to came by .
Can’t walk in any time he likes whenever he likes .

Was you ever told or says in contract ?
I’m sure that is not legal . Is invading your privacy rights . Is abuse .
I would research google , ask citizen advise or legal advise . And I wouldn’t be shy to prosecute the landlord either . Rip as much money out of him as can possibly imagine .

There should be signs up to say CCTV is recording in order for it to be legal. I have researched this previously because I have CCTV outside myself. If the CCTV is in any of the living areas tenants occupy then that is definitely illegal. |

thank you it was emergency accom fled dv waiting for temp now got temp but housing treating me like shit several issues
apparently ive took a microwave of his ( no microwave in it as i got one given to me from a charity - paper trail for this and ive told them this they said he would check cctv and no signs up saying this so im thought it was dodgy just needed to check thanks |

Cctv law is and surely you’re landlord broke the law pertaining to cctv use

I had to build a motorhome quickly . No Council or anyone helps cause landlord gives you illegal inviction after refuse fixing black ceilings of infiltrations .
No one cares if u homeless just before Christmas single dad or not .
Thought u ment cctv inside the rooms xx |

I had to build a motorhome quickly . No Council or anyone helps cause landlord gives you illegal inviction after refuse fixing black ceilings of infiltrations .
No one cares if u homeless just before Christmas single dad or not .
Thought u ment cctv inside the rooms xx " i dont know where it was being honest it could have been lifes better but its been awful single mum of 2 kids its took 10 weeks of b&bs ( one was 8 weeks where the cctv thing happened its illegal hes def a awful perve |

A landlord has to give you a minimum of 24 hrs notice to visit a property.You can ask to be present they can't just turn up unanounced and let themselves in.I have heard of a landlord who helped themselves to a tennants property to recover unpaid rent or bills.Highly illegal. |

I’ve worked for a social housing provider who have provided emergency / shared accommodation.
It’s completely legal to have CCTV inside the communal areas of the property (shared kitchen/shared lounge/corridors etc) as long as it’s well signposted and you are informed when taking up the tenancy.
The landlord can also access these shared areas with minimal or no warning, as they often need to access and welcome new residents to the property, or help clean the communal areas.
It is however illegal to have any CCTV in any areas which are solely used by one resident (eg bedroom) and when accessing these areas the landlord would need to give you prior warning. |

Landlords can only let themselves in without notice if its an absolute emergency - but they still have to make contact. By emergency, we're talking gas or water leak while you aren't there, or something major.
We had issues with a private landlord coming in and not telling us for very minor reasons. Its a horrible feeling of invasion, and we never quite felt settled there again. |

As far as I'm aware, emergency housing the rules are still the same; they need to give you notice of any reason they need to come into the property, unless it's an emergency and they can't get access via yourself. They shouldn't be letting themselves in for any other reason.
Definitely chase it up, citizens advice bureau is probably a good place to get cohesive advice. |
