Chanel perfume.. yay or nay?
Jump to: Newest in thread
Is it a classic that will never go out of fashion or are the more modern perfumes now in favour?
Ladies what's your go to perfume that makes you feel sexy?
Fella's what perfume on a lady gets you hot the minute you get a whiff? |

Which Chanel? There are many.
No. 5 is nice… but too strong.
I haven’t really found my signature scent. My body chemistry doesn’t like perfumes. some I wear and I like but they don’t wow me are Jo Malone’s Peony and Blush Suede, Penhaligon’s Elizabethan Rose, Flowerbomb and Miss Dior Rose and Roses.
In men I like Dior’s Fahrenheit. Anything that isn’t Creed Aventus will do lol. |

"There’s more than one Chanel perfume.
No.5 smells like a granny to me though. A classy granny but too heavy and old fashioned.
I do like YSL Libre and Versace’s Crystal Noir though."
I wear it all the time but I get what you mean. It's got associations with old people. I guess it is old fashioned too. I still love it though |

Channel Allure is one of my favourites. Loved it from when it first came out until now. Perfume is probably one of the few "typical women things" I do. I love smelling it on other too. I have a bottle of Coco in my collection but Allure is the best Channel fragrance in my opinion. |

"Coco Madamoiselle for me "
Ding ding ding.
Sorry ladies, my mum wears 5. It's a no go from me.
Best thing to do is try them, they all sit and react differently.
My skin burns through some stuff, others last beautifully.
Typically the ones that last, cost. I'd much prefer to pay Lynx Africa prices but ho hum. |

They cost dearly because of the quality of the ingredients used hence why they last.
I’m sure Aldi could help you with a less expensive imitation |

I'm well stocked and know my range now so to speak.
I won't deviate, it took too much trial and error, and the results are worth it.
Plus Brut and Old Spice do occasionally go on offer. Patience is key.

Chanel No 5 is too heavy and overpowering for me, much like the Opium that my mum used to wear when I was a kid.
I use Light Blue by D&G because it's one of the few perfumes that doesn't give me a headache when I wear it...I used to love Paul Smith Floral but they discontinued it
I like Sauvage and JPG Le Male on men, and Creed Aventus will always have me turning my head to see who smells so good |

"My mum always used to say that no 5 smelled like toilet cleaner . I think it depends who's wearing it. "
I'm just waiting for all these old dears to stop wearing it. But I'm afraid I'll be the old dear by that point |

Well I plan on living another 40 or so years so you've got a loooong wait. |

To be fair I don't think of you as an old dear. I don't quite see you in a twin set and pearls doused in Chanel no 5 |

Hi,
For those of you that feel No5 is too strong, may I suggest No19 - Allegedly Coco's personal favourite.
That said No5 is a classic - Great Ads. I love the Audrey Tautou Orient Express one, 'Train de Nuit' - watch out for the shimmering reflection of the bottle! |

I still like to leave the faint memory of Chanel no 5 on a silk scarf I might accidentally leave in a lovers bed |

I don't like No 19 or Coco Mademoiselle. |

"Posion hyp**tic and posion girl are 2 of my go too perfumes.
All time favourite is lancome poeme
"
I was just about to post 'anything but' Posion. For some reason I'm allergic to Posion. Ironic?
Empori and Armani |

They don't smell anything like the original posion |

My mum wore #5 and I liked Allure for a while in my 20s but ever since I learnt of the world war connection I don't feel comfortable wearing or buying anything from Chanel. It's years since it happened I do realise but it matters I feel. |

your wildest dreams, |
My mum wore no.5 all the time. Whenever I smell it I think of her standing by the fireplace putting her jewellery on ready to go out. I occasionally wear coco but I prefer something citrusy. I usually wear
Penhaligons Castile
Tom Ford neroli portofino |

Mademoiselle is a firm favourite of mine on a Lady. No5 is a classic for sure
I've have Bleu de Chanel and Tom Ford Extreme for "special occasions". I wastefully (as its far too good a scent for day to day) wear Sauvage for work! |

For informal daily wear - "L'Occitan Eau de Toilette" by L'OCCITANE en Provence.
Otherwise - "Eau d'Orange Verte" by Hermès, which I've been wearing since I was sixteen. Also, "Blenheim Bouquet" by Penhaligons, if I'm feeling positively bullish. |

This thread has gotten me all curious about Chanel perfumes now. Must go have a few squirts in Boots this weekend.
I'm more a budget girl and love Sunflower by Elizabeth Arden. I have all the off shoots as well, like Sunflower Rose Petal and Sunlight Kiss which is summery! |
