One of my favourite genres of music. Listening to a bit of Mudhoney at the mo (superfuzz Bigmuff) Good filthy fuck music.
Any fellow grungers on here and what's your hot tracks? |

Grunge (and grunge-adjacent stuff, for want of a better term) is well overdue a revival or a critical reappraisal, if you ask me.
Visceral, filthy music with a brain - and a heart - to it.
I’m going to see the Afghan Whigs next weekend. Music doesn’t get much sexier. While the rest of the Seattle bands were taking their tops off to start moshpits and compete for man points, Greg Dulli was stealing their girlfriends. |

Dirty track? Army Ants from STP

Very nice. Problem I found with STP was that they didn't have their own sound. More of a fusion of other bands. The track u listed reminds me of Tool and Jane's addiction. In my opinion anyways. |

Chris Cornell had one of the sexiest voices of all time.

Yeah the day that guy passed away was not a good one. Anyone listened to Audio (wow can't say the rest of that band name) much as well? |

Yep, the perfect blend of two great bands. Saw Chris Cornell play a solo show at the Paladium about 10 years ago. Totally amazing.
Saw Soundgarden play at the Marquee, Astoria and Wembley stadium supporting GNR. I only went to see SG and faith no more. |

That's why I rated them so highly. A dirty mess of sounds to produce an even bigger dirtier mess of a sound. Velvet Revolver were great too but we're they technically grunge?

Yeah I absolutely loved audio...as you say the perfect blend. More melodic but huge riffs and vocals.
Biffy Clyro are my favourite band now - but not their singles. Basically anything they do which is a little weirder. Not grunge but influenced by it |

Maybe "progressive grunge" if that's a thing. Sad that so many singers and band members are no longer with us. |

I was around for Grunge and I think Mudhoney were easily thebest band of the genre that I saw live at that timr and are still an incredible live band. Saw Nirvana twice and was underwhelmed.
Not sure Jane's Addiction were technically grunge but fucking hell they were something.
If I had to pick one track I'd probably go for 3 Days by Jane's Addiction |

I ended up quite liking a lot of the post-grunge stuff that came up in the US charts after that initial wave of ‘true’ grunge bands. Yeah, much of it was poppier and shinier, some flirted with pop-punk etc, but with the benefit of hindsight there are some all-time great tunes in there. You just have to sift through a lot of filler to find them. |

Saw Mudhoney a bunch of times. Never saw Nirvana but had a ticket for the Kilburn national before "Nevermind" launched them into.mega fame But the person who got the ticket for me sold it on. |

Im a huge Pearl Jam fan. Ive seen them a few times.
At the O2 about 5yrs ago, they were on stage for 3hrs 20mins.
Eddie Vedders voice is something else.
My favourite track....Porch
Faith No More were brilliant too....although are they grunge?
Stone Temple Pilots?
Smashing Pumpkins?
Bush?
Janes Addiction?
All brilliant

Faith No More more alternative funk metal. But still amazing.
All the above bands are effectively what got me into rock. |

I'm lucky to have seen so many great bands so I try not to dwell on who I missed but it annoys me I never saw Sonic Youth. It particularly annoys me that when sone friends went to see Sonic Youth supported by Nirvana in Dublin, similarly just before they went huge, I declined goung with them! |

Thurston Moore lives in my neighbourhood. He's played at the local bar and has had a pop up record shop on Stoke Newington Church St. Never seen him though. 100% is my sexy sonic track. |

Fishbone...wow, that's a blast from the past. I had their album "Give a monkey a brain and he'll swear he's the centre of the universe"....or something similar.
No one i knew had heard of them. I think i got into them after seeing them in a film, performing in the background. |

Drain You is one of my favourite songs. I’m slightly obsessed by Nirvana . Otherwise, same as others Soundgarden, STP, Pearl Jam. Any newer grunge bands anyone can recommend? I was excited when Nine Black Alps came on to the scene in the noughties - but they didn’t continue to embrace grunge following their debut album. |

They were classed as that in the early days. So mush great Alt music came out of that era. Had to label everything. Tool are awesome but what category do they fall into? |

They were either brilliant or shite. No in-between with them.
Made one of best songs ever but live and on some records were too much into guitar wankery. |
