I just found out that only certain people are allowed to shop at Costco... I never knew that.

"What type of people?

There's a list of allowed occupations; chartered accountants; doctors... similar to those who can sign passports.

Sometimes you can also get in through your workplace, if they have an agreement with Costco

Surely that’s a good thing , I wouldn’t want to be allowed in places like that.

I don’t know what I’m having for lunch today !

I like to go to Costco just so that I can wonder about eating all the samples.

It's like a wholesale store where you buy things in bulk. My Dad used to take me when we had our shop to restock

Well somebody needs to tell Costco to update their website because that's not what it says there.

Not true. Just looked online and for individual membership you have to qualify as a current or retired employee of certain organisations.

You can buy an online only annual membership though.

Does fab count as one of the recognised organisations?

Oh right. I don't think it would be wise for me to go. I'd come home with bulk packs of chocolate biscuits to last six months and be back the following week because I'd eaten them all

The rules for that changed a long time ago.

Trade membership they have a certain requirement for.

Individual membership now is totally different compared to what it was when it first opened near me, the list of accepted professions seems to have gone.

Having the correct I.D sometimes is an issue for people wanting to join, but they are allowing everyone to join on a standard membership.

Even retired people in my family have managed to get cards without having worked recently.

Maybe, but you can get a hot dog and drink for only £1.50 so worth it

It's not gone from their website.

So is it a case that they have these rules but they don't enforce them if you apply in person?

When I realised I couldn't shop at Costco I was devastated because their birthday cakes are elite and so affordable. You'll catch me begging outside the store on my birthday.

And the cookies!!

And the food actually is another level compared to most supermarkets. I had Paella from there once and it was better than any I've ever had in my life.

The websites crap always has been.

Go in it's much easier, have the right I'd, be prepared to have your picture done for your card and usually pay the first month upfront and once your card is done you will be free to go look around.

Not sure what the initial joining fee is , you may want to phone and ask first.

I pay just under £40 for 2 cards to be renewed when they are due.

Take your fab platinum supporter membership card along, then they'll let you join.

Derby

Costco always sell things I didn't know i needed until i get in there.

There first thing that hits me is that tiny television can not possibly the same size as the huge one hung on my wall.

Then i try to go at lunch time and I can snack on all the samples at the aisle ends.

Then when my extra large trolley is loaded up with all the goodies comes the shock at the till.

but i still go.

At least their fuel is cheap

Somethings are cheap, like the lactose free milk, coca cola but I always end up spending way more than I bargained for! Cakes are good! And you can fill up on petrol too.

A woodchuck would, (if a woodchuck could), chuck as much would as a woodchuck should.
