Yep. I (kinda) remember it well.
I slept through it and went off to do my paper round in the morning. I couldn't get to the shop because too many trees were down.
It wasn't until later when I realised our neighbours opposite were missing their roof! |

Oh yes, I spent that night hiding in a cupboard as our neighbours garden wall was picked apart and throw through my bedroom window piece by piece. Then days in an isolated town with the power off with being deployed through the scouts to help the reopening of the roads. |

It's my first thing I remember of national importance, remember it well. I didn't live far from sevenoaks at the time and always remember my dad telling me that 6 of the oak trees (where the name comes from) blew down and 7 new trees were planted so actually eightoaks now...if that's true or not, I have no idea! |

"I got hit by a slate on the way home from school...very lucky boy that day.
It didn't reach us until the middle of the night so injuries to people were low."
We got to school to find a 'state of emergency '...sent home we'll before lunchtime. ![](/icons/thumb_up.png) |

Well I don't remember the storm itself, I slept through the whole thing, woke the next morning to a hell of a mess. Lived at the edge of a forest so there were trees down, cars damaged, roofs missing and walls down.
Was given a written warning at work for being an hour late as the bus couldn't come down the usual road so I had to walk a couple of miles to find where I could get a bus. Wasn't impressed. |

"Who remembers its I watch a Doc on the TV CH5 player tonight was well worth watching" I remember it very well. I lived near Heathrow at the time. My mum still said school would be open and sent me... I came home as it wasn't and a local office block had all its top windows blow out from pressure x lots of trees near us down but was weirdly quiet the next day
