It's an excuse to wear what you'd really like to wear but never normally would.

Around Halloween I love it, it’s the one time I can really act like myself and not be called a freak… tell me another weekend I can go out dressed as a plague doctor and get away with it |

I've never been in fancy dress even as a child. It wasn't a thing growing up and as an adult I've never seen the attraction.
I've never been to a fancy dress party and even going to an 80s night once I refused to dress up and just wore a band t-shirt. |

I am dressing up on Saturday to go to a Halloween party at a club but the guy I am going with refuses to even wear a mask. He just thinks he would feel foolish even though the majority will be in fancy dress. |

I sometimes wear a cockroach suit or Alladin costume to go for dinner with my parents. I do love my mums reaction so Halloween is just another great excuse to let out my inner child |

Yes! I'm so glad you have said this because I absolutely hate dressing up and don't like it when other people do either and I have a massive issue with face paint.
Halloween is an absolute nightmare for me and I try not to go out. |

Another lover of fancy dress here. Although I did feel a bit daft when I went to a 80’s night at Chams and no one else had really bothered
My Halloween outfit is ready for Saturday night - sorry!! |

Thinking back to my student days there was one I enjoyed.
Went to a charity shop and brought an old shirt and jeans. Then fake blood from a novelty shop. Tore them up a bit, dribbled some blood and voila. Cheep and effective.
Plus got them literally ripped off after the party |

"I went on the otley run dressed as a cowboy a week before the first lockdown
My cousins daughters doing the Otley run next week and her mum asked her why she hadn’t done any training "
Ahh that’s brilliant |

We absolutely love fancy dress and costumes! Halloween is just another excuse to dress up as something we love! We’re going to the penthouse event on Saturday and we’ve had so much fun choosing costumes and sorting everything out for them. We also love comic cons and cosplay so we dress up fairly regularly.

I’m not a fan of fancy dress, I don’t see the point, I did it once and that was more than enough, but I cikdnt give a toss about Halloween either, so…
So no suggestions about not being miserable, but also no reason to not be miserable about it either! |

I never go to fancy dress parties. That's how I stop being miserable about it. |

I'm not a huge fan of fancy dress. I don't see point in buying something you can only wear once and then leave in a drawer gathering dust. Seems like a waste of money but hey, gotta play the game to make a good impression |

"gotta play the game to make a good impression
Or you just change the rules and play your own game. "
Easier to say that than put it into action in a social setting |
