Hey all
I was wondering what people’s experiences were with sex, after having LLETZ surgery/procedure? I have been intermittently bleeding since my op in February 2021. The doctors/GP say that this is just something that should heal itself but it is ruining my confidence. I never know when it will happen and I feel obliged to tell potential partners about my situation, it’s really getting me down but the doctors/GP don’t really want to know and I feel like this is who I am now!
Any other experiences? I try and stay confident and open about what may happen, but once in a while I just want some great sex without having to worry and explain!

Can you try a different doctor?
If you were a man having issues they'd be right on it. Women they don't seem to give a fuck about, we just have to put up with bleeding, pain, contraceptive issues etc etc. |

I have been thinking about this! I am having some blood tests soon so will see the outcome of that. They just seem to blame it on the fact I’ve had the op and my contraception. Thank you for taking the time to reply |

"It should have healed after 6 months. Has noone suggested some antibiotics?"
I think I have initially healed, my problem now is every time I have sex I tend to bleed. I had sex about 5 weeks ago and have been bleeding since. I have spoken to the nurse practitioner but she seems to think it’s because I’ve had the op/contraception. I think I need to be more firm and have more dates/times of when it happens. They seem to just fob me off.
Thanks for replying x |

You shouldn't still be having issues this long after the procedure. Have you been in touch with the consultant or just your gp.But you should be fully healed by now and sex should not be causing you to bleed still this long after it. Unfortunately I think it is something only your doctor can help you with but I would definitely be a lot much pushy about it and don't let they pawn you off with excuses. I hope you get it sorted soon. X |

Thank you so much for your reply. I can’t believe they are making me feel like this is normal! I will make an appointment to talk to them about it. As it’s to do with my fanny I always get an appointment with the nurse practitioner, I might push to see a Doctor?? Not sure if this will help. x |

"Did you have a follow up colposcopy a year later ? "
Yes I’ve had a further 2 Colposcopies, I mention it to them each time and they say to speak to my GP. I speak to my GP and they say it’s normal/not to worry etc. well it’s really bothering me. Going into my 5th week now and it doesn’t seem to be getting any lighter. I am going to call the Drs tomorrow x |

"I've had a few llets procedures and never bled for more than a few days afterwards, after a year I'd definitely be asking for some further investigation.
Hope you get it sorted.

Thank you, I hope so too! Thanks for taking the time to reply x |

I wouldn’t think the bleeding would carry on that long. I had one about 13 years ago and all was ok afterwards.
Definitely ask to speak to another doctor, hopefully you find another one that’s more helpful and get things sorted! Xx |

I would contact wherever you had it done as antibiotics are usually the answer. Has anyone actually had a look as someone needs to rather than just blaming it on contraception (presumably progesterone only??) |

This really is not normal. I had so many LLETZ procedures that I had virtually no cervix left when I finally got a hysterectomy.
Please go back to your GP & insist on a female or one who is interested in Gynae issues.
Take care xx
