I have a very big job interview I have been waiting for years now…. Problem is I am having a huge struggle with failure and rejection lately having been rejected a lot as of lately both in my personal and professional life has had a toll on my confidence and I’m even considering not attending the interview just to avoid putting myself in that position again…
Need to add I have ADHD and this sensitivity to rejection is something pathological, not something I can control, but I’d appreciate any sensible advice really |

Rejection is hard to accept but unfortunately it's part of life. Can you reframe the way you look at it? If you're not accepted for the job it means that the job wasn't suitable for you rather than you weren't suitable for it. |

Given that these days it is hard to even get to interview stage, you have done well already.
Stay as calm as possible by controlling things you can, appearance, on time etc.
I always try and think of an interview as a two way process as well, they must think you can do the job already or they wouldn't have offered. Have a couple of questions to ask them, it shows you have thought about them.
Good luck, you will rock it! |

What have you got to lose?
If you don't go, you've already lost and will always wonder what if.
Nerves are normal and is always accounted for. Be yourself and if you don't get it then what have you lost.... nothing.
Good luck. |

Look at it this way. The worst that can happen is you don't get offered the job? But, you will have gained from attending the interview either way. It's great to keep our interview skills up to date, and if you don't get the role then you can ask for feedback which will inform you of any areas you might need to brush up on for future one's. It's a win/win situation really. But you'll kick yourself of you don't at least try. Good luck OP, and chances are you'll smash it |

OP. The thing to remember to keep you calm is that if you have the interview they think you can do the job. You have all the qualifications needed. Essentially it’s in the bag. Just be yourself and let them like you! Just for being you.
Then it will be all yours.
Best of luck and try to keep as calm as you can |

This is a truly wonderful way to look at the situation. |

Try to remind yourself of your positives... Your skills and experiences, including life experiences.
Remind yourself why you applied for the role originally and remember you are worthy of it
Every experience is a learning experience... Look in the mirror and tell yourself out loud 'i am awesome', do it 10 times, getting louder every time
Good luck xx |

this.
I have a lot of sympathy / empathy with the OP and can understand how they feel, but the reality is that in real life (despite what people are told these days) you do have to encounter setbacks and things don’t always go in your favour.
It’s true for all of us, I guess the way to look at it is that if there’s 20 people applying for a job and there’s only one appointed, then 19 others didn’t get it.
Was it a *rejection*?
Not necessarily.. most of them may have been perfectly good in the role it’s just that the one candidate was just slightly more suitable.
There’s a big distinction in that respect so please don’t assume you’ve been rejected .. in fact the opposite, you’ve been shortlisted for the role which suggests that you’re a very strong candidate. I hope this all makes sense!
Anyway, I hope the interview goes really well and that you get the job you want.. if not, dust yourself down, and go again!
Keep smiling! |

Hope you had a restful sleep, woke up feeling better and it goes well.
If you haven't gone yet do some breathing exercises before you go. A good question I find is 'What do you enjoy most about working here?'
Good luck, let us know how it went |

I think we all get that feeling when we're nervous of something, our mind says, take the easy way out, don't go.
Self sabotage. But it's something you have to push through. You say you've waited and wanting this for a long time so please do go. Worst that can happen is you don't get the job.
You have got this, don't worry, you're ready for this, go show them how good you will be in this job. |

Come get your congratulations fuck.
It will be quick as I have to go to work so if it lasts less than two seconds, it is not because I have no stamina but because I am in a rush |
