I'd given fresh cream a miss (or only at certain times) but this last few weeks because there has been a shortage of egg custards In local co-op store I'd fallen back on the slices their so beautiful but calorie wise and health wise I try and give fresh cream a bigger miss gone are the days when younger and such things were a regular treat, Who else enjoys such treats still or like me tries to go round them on health grounds except on occasions..

I still enjoy custard I use to love trifles with custard and cream in them, when you miss out fresh cream or deprive yourself of it over a good period of time and then Indulge In it again Wow you realise the amazing flavour and texture of this nothing else like it substance in the world.

Oddly enough I've made both of those at work today, I don't eat them though.

I take the icing bit off and stick to the bottom slice, so can still eat it all together. YUM! Haven't had one in years, fancy one now!

Cream slices are probably the most impractical of cakes.

Delicious but messy AF!

It actually doesn't! Turn it so the layers are vertical rather than horizontal, and get yer teeth round it.

It's like how flipping a burger upside down stabilises it.

They're super easy to make, especially if you use ready made pastry

I've noticed that the egg custards have been running out of stock more frequently than other Items in

the year alongside, people seem to love them.. The ready made pastry seems a good option.
