Now Tom is no fan of the Germans but reports that protesting lunatics in a VW garage glued themselves to the floor and the bosses merely turned off the heating, turned off the lights, ignored requests for a hot drink and toilet bowl and simply went home..
Just ignore these fools..
Toms Law in action.
Well done to the Jerries. |

I'm a big fan of the German's and. I surprise they deal well. They have effective workers councils, they have a good standard of living and stuff generally works. Not without there issues of course. We can learn a lot from what works well. |

Germany didn't exist until 1870. Didn't have democracy until post WW2. Ravaged by serious political strife it swayed to the right and was devastated by May 1945. It lost lands and was split until the 80s . Anything you'd like to add....? |

I think they were wrong to ignore their request for toilet facilities bit otherwise I can't see a problem. The protestors are allowed to carry out their protest and VW are continuing about their business. |

I genuinely don't see why they would provide them with toilet facilities.
It seems like a good way to speed up the process of getting them out peacefully |

One should prepare and plan for the possibility that the owners of the business won't be too forthcoming in offering use of the facilities..
Why should they? |

Can see the point yes..
At that point the owners would be well within their rights to ask the police to remove them on health grounds maybe..

Disagree - if they’re going to protest be prepared - think it through - no point in going somewhere and causing inconvenience and upset to people then asking those same people if its ok to use the toilet.. like covering someones house in shit then asking if its ok to wash your hands…. Democracy is the way - if you want to influence - use the tools civilised society has given you - set out your policies - ask for & gain support - get elected - and put your policies into practice … what these protestors do is not Democratic - they’re looking to impose their value system on others by disruption and in some cases vandalism .. I absolutely agree with their cause but completely disagree with their methods. |

So..
One hand glued to the floor, average height of a bucket, clothing to be loosened enough to do the necessary and to complete any paperwork required and to redo clothing..

What about if you vote in a government with certain policies, let’s say NO FRACKING for example, then half way through that government’s term there is general chaos and amongst other things they want to START FRACKING again… but you can’t actually vote them out for another 2 years…. How does Democracy work better than protest then?
The right to protest is PART of a functioning democracy…. Just wish we had one |

Thats down to the integrity of the people elected who seem to be a bunch of lying opportunistic hypocrites who couldn’t run a bath because they’re too busy scrabbling to protect their own interests rather than deliver the mandated policies they were elected on. I’ve never seen such a bunch of deceitful self centred twats in my life - they’re a disgrace. Just my opinion - I believe if you get elected on a set
Of Policies then you stick to it or ask for a fresh mandate. Like these arseholes that resign from the party they were elected to represent then resign and still vote as an independent? Where else do you resign then go in to work the day after and say I still want paying but im going to do my own thing now?

lol this is the best way to deal with these fucking idiots totally ... if I had a store/site that was private property and these muppets did that , I would just simply erect privacy screens around them and block them off from public view until the police and can get rid of them ...
Not sure why we dont do this on roads /public areas when they want to sit down/glue themselves .. they need to have public visibility so if we took it away from them by blocking them off from the rest of people . they can sit there and whistle ... |

Once the police remove them. They should force them to clean up or fine them for damages to business to bring in cleaners |

"I think they were wrong to ignore their request for toilet facilities bit otherwise I can't see a problem. The protestors are allowed to carry out their protest and VW are continuing about their business.
I genuinely don't see why they would provide them with toilet facilities.
It seems like a good way to speed up the process of getting them out peacefully
I agree with you there. I'm just thinking of the VW employee who is likely going to have to clean up.
Surely they would want to clean their own mess up ?
How when they're glued to the floor?
Once the police remove them. They should force them to clean up or fine them for damages to business to bring in cleaners "
I don't think that's within police powers |

I wouldn’t know German law. But criminal damage by defecting in a private business Trespass etc I would imagine are viable |

Let’s admit, the Germans are far better than us in many ways if we could only let go of our pride 2 admit it. They’re a lot more methodical in their approach in many ways & like I said b4 they’re far better than most when it cums 2 engineering...!
Why still hold resentment resulting from the past & not be friends...!
I know a few Germans having worked with them & must say they r all lovely peeps. |

They have a hell of a sense of humour.
A pilot landing at Frankfurt was told to park at gate 3.
He asked for direction. The AT's reply was:
"You don't know how to get to gate 3?"
Pilot replied. "No sorry." "Only been to Frankfurt twice in 1944." "Both times never landed." |

Yes but only after blowing the hell out of it some years back.
Are we bringing up countries historic crimes cause...........
Germany didn't exist until 1870. Didn't have democracy until post WW2. Ravaged by serious political strife it swayed to the right and was devastated by May 1945. It lost lands and was split until the 80s . Anything you'd like to add....?"
Can we add why they swayed to the right? |

They considered the Treaty of Versailles unjust, though in practice it was more or less the same treaty the Germans imposed on the French after the Franco-Prussian wars. |

I think it's more that it *was* unjust and it demoralised an already decimated country. The swing to the right was thoroughly predictable. |

The amount of casually accepted anti German sentiment (anti French too) and stereotyping one encounters on a daily basis is shocking. People usually excuse it as just 'jokes'...hilarious |

Racism? Is that why I write articles on-line to highlight forgotten massacres of Germans after the war in 1945?

Not quick enough, I'd say.
You called Germans "soulless creatures." Stop trivialising your racism."
I really agree with you.
I also believe that insults, by anybody, more often than not reflect back on the person who is saying them rather than on the people they are stereotyping. |

We got the invasion bug from the Saxons, Jutes, Angles, Norse, Dutch, Norse, Danes, Romans and Celts.
It's their fault we grew up like this over the centuries
and developed a taste of land grabbing and the like.

Nobody knows the definitive boundaries of Germania never mind if the Celts were a single people.
Germany 1870 contained people who spoke German and who may have had Slavic roots. Much like Hitler's ethnic Germans. Blondes who spoke slavic but he considered German. Prussians were a Baltic race colonised by German crusaders.
Nothing is simple.. |

You can safely assume though that they were of Germanic culture and by and large spoke what is today German. The point I was making is actually more about the initial anti German sentiment and some rather bizarre xenophobic comments expressed but hey, as I said earlier... to me negativity, xenophobia etc are usually more about the person expressing it than the person they are referring to. |

They do. Sun Tzu's often contracted quote of "know thy enemy"

Funny how Stan Boardman (not Chris) never spoke about Carl Bernard Bartels, a wood-carver from Stuttgart, Germany. This Germ-man, won a competition in the last century to sculpt a few avains and have them plonked on a couple of roofs, by a famous river front.
Then again, it was far too easy for his generation to deny and not talk about "Die Leber vögel's creator, they were good at that sort of thing. |

I'll tell you what says more about someone - when they make racist statements.
But if you think there's a way to explain your statement that *isn't* racist, feel free to enlighten me. Btw, there was nothing casual about my "accusation." |
