Reports that an overzealous shop security guard got fined £140 by the Scottish Courts for apprehending two shoplifters and bundled both to the ground. In the resulting melee one of the shoplifters got a broken leg. No mention what the shoplifter got.. what should his penalty have been? |

"You have to be going some to break someone’s leg in a shop. I would say he was lucky to get a way with a fine. At least he stopped them from legging it."
That was my 1st thought.
You can only use reasonable force and if someone's leg is broken I'm not quite sure how reasonable that is unless of course the security guard's life was at risk. |

"If he hadn’t shoplifted and broken the law he’d be fine right now.
Hopefully lesson learnt "
If he stole food to feed his family?
Hopefully it was a big shop who are part of the continuing problem and notna small business.
