Are there truly good words and bad words? Or does it depend on other things?

It depends on the context they're used. If terms are used to spread hate then it's easy to see them as bad words with which they can't recover.

Depends on the context really, you could be a cunt… bad term… but you could also be a good Cunt. Good term

They're just sounds. I could call an amazonian tribesperson a cunt and they would be confused rather than offended. I've never understood how the words themselves can be problematic. I mean, sure, they can be used in ways that are rude, impolite,, derogatory, dismissive, abusive, but this is all in the context of how, where, when, why and who. Blanking a letter out of a newspaper article for example "to which the defendant replied "F*ck off" is comical, because we all say fuck when we read it, removing the 'a' hasn't changed it's meaning in the slightest and yet somehow that's seen as removing the swear? Nope... Judge people on their intention *and* their vocabulary, but don't blame the words for existing...

Words hold power. There are some words that will never leave my mouth. They’re disgusting. They hold the power to hurt. I don’t think words are either good or bad, they’re just words. But intention, history and context matter.

Some words said by certain people are always bad words and I’ll die on that hill I guess.

The word 'favour' is both a lovely thing, and also always makes me think of something sweet and warm melting in my mouth. Deeply Freudian, I bet.

"bad" is a particularly bad word esp. on here because it can mean both good and bad, depending on context. Imagine a symbol...that means one thing but also its opposite!

I agree with most it depends on context, I often call the Mr a cunt or an idiot in a loving kinda way, if I told him he was lovely I think he'd be offended.

Doesn’t it depend upon the inflection with which any. Words are delivered to define them as good or bad?

Being a bit lazy so won't post the quote like I usually do but George carlin talking about words and context is spot on.

I've been up, I've been down

I've been lost, I've been found

I went through hell to find my way

When you take on a crown

People pray for your down fall

I deal with this shit every day

Tell 'em throw another stone

Sticks and stones can't break me and your words don't phase me no more

Throw another stone

I've seen love turn shady if you really hate me we can go to war

So throw another stone

Some "neutral" words become associated with bad connotations and undergo a change e.g.

who would associate "truss" with a framework supporting a roof, bridge, or other structure these days.

Sorry, my bad
