is there anything jammed in the keyboard?

if not, it might be worth trying a system check, see if there is a software/program running thats causing it

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

Is there a little rubber nubbin in the middle of the keyboard which can also be used to control the pointer?

If that got stuck, it could have this effect, esp if you were typing using the adjacant keys.

that means its probably hardware not software, .

I'd try switvhing it off, leaving it for 2 mins and try shaking it/ giving it a gentle "dunt", then try restarting it

Look at your mouse tracking settings. If its set too high try slowing it down a notch or two. Click 'Start/Control Panel' then right click the icon for your mouse and select 'Properties'.

You should then see a tabbed box.

Click the tab labelled 'Pointer Options' then look for 'Pointer Speed' or 'Motion'.

Slow it down by dragging the indicator to the middle of the notched bar you see there.

Have you cleaned the mousepad with a damp cloth?

Try adjusting the sensitivity of the mousepad in your settings.

Coll had similar problem recently, I simply pressed the right click button, it was fine after that, worth a try I guess.
