Géntlemen, Lådies, Bínaries, Whatéveries and Inclusìvities - do you wear a suit or an equivalent form of smart clothing for work?
Although I relish in the tranquillity of my casual attire for 'home working', I do sometimes miss the 'two-piece' and the smart shoes. The sartorial approach was always more than just symbolic. It effused an impeccable feeling of positivity and goodness in me.
A suit. A skirt. And shoes! I'm inclined to rejuvenate this timeless classic! |

Oh, I always wear a suit for work. Usually three-piece, accessorised by pocket squares, ties, and cufflinks. Sometimes a buttonhole for special occasions. Patent leather dress shoes when I feel like being particularly smart.
A good, well-cut suit is like a cheat-code for the game of manhood. |

I would expect nothing less from your exquisitely sartorial ensembles. One day we should amble down Jermyn Street and ogle at the affordable unaffordables, with a nod and homage to Beau Brummell. |

I have always longed for a dressing gown from New and Lingwood. Shall we start our saunter there, before popping into Turnbull and Asser, then a quick tasting at Berry Bros before lunching at my club?
We shall have to warn the local Fab ladies, of course, in case our doubly manly aspect has them coming over with a fit of the vapours. I'll soak my kerchief in sal volatile, just in case. |

I'm hoping this is a non-negotiable open invitation with sybaritic undertones?
Add to that the Davidoff cigar concessionaire around the corner. We need something to dip gingerly into our Armagnac. |

Oh you two make me chuckle, it's like the "suits you" sketch with a thesaurus shoe horned in.
I know I'm a sartorial wazzock, but you guys just remind me how much farther you can always go.
Have at it lads, I'll stick to finding mine online, my sizes are a nightmare at the best of times and I haven't done enough crime for bespoke.

I’m half & half. Today is black skinny trousers bottom half and silk blouse & pinstripe jacket top half. But to be fair my lower half is a struggle currently with the ankle situation.
My suits are smart, but are given a pink edge with the style of blouse & amount of hardware in my ears ??
I would love to be properly fitted for a 3 piece suit, but tailored to enhance my curves. Always has been a dream. |

I usually wear a formal dress, but I have to wear with (smart) trainers due to my special foot issues. I did force my foot into smarter shoes for interviews recently though
Today, I'm wearing a white collared formal blouse with a black pinafore dress over the top |

I’m currently going for the smarter-casual, i.e. smart shirts, dress shoes and smart denim trousers for work. My boss always walks around with half his arse out of his jeans so, there’s no point for me to dress smarter. |

Someone commented I always looked as if I was going to a funeral so nowadays I tend to favour dresses and jackets rather than skirt suits.
Besides, have you tired finding smart skirts these days .. nope, it’s all trousers! I won’t wear trousers for work.
Otherwise a handsome hottie in a smart suit ensemble, worn with confidence is my utter weakness .. |

Not every day, I'm routinely a chinos and shirt kind of chap.
But agree the cut of a good suit is a definite mood booster so I appreciate the days when I do wear one, and always leave one in the office so I'm not caught on the hop! |

I'm with you on the trousers DC, I just can't do it, especially at a client meeting.
I tend to opt for coloured/patterned midi skirts with a black jacket to avoid the funeral/witch look.
Nowadays, the best bit about having to (infrequently) trudge into the office is the chance to dress smartly...yes, I know I could dress like that when working from home, but it's not the same. |

A cut-throat at Geo. F. Trumper would be the perfect tonic to commence the day. However, breaking with tradition: I must insist on a Proraso™ shaving cream to grace my fine whiskers. If your olfactory desires will allow may I recommend Penhaligon's...it's worth a detour on our cobbled path before returning 'tout suite'!
Lest you forget - a quick interlude at Paxton & Whitfield for a dainty and artisan cheese gift for every forumite on this thread above, in the middle, below and the latent ones who are about to post. |

Contra the estimable Mr London, I do rather like Floris, especially as they are one of the few places to offer genuinely bespoke perfumery.
But I am happy with my current footwrar, from the late lamented Duckers of Turl Street, Oxford, so I shall stay at the Rivoli for a filthy Martini, or perhaps stroll along Piccadilly to F and M to pick up some of their winsome dark chocolate truffles, for distribution to our lovely thread denizens.

I would do almost anything for those truffles!
No hatters in Oxford for many years, however, and not really anywhere much except Lock's in London now. I fear I’m bringing this thread down market with my half suited & not booted looks, eating my cone of chips, swigging a pint of ale.
And you would recoil in horror at my fragrance choices (off the shelf no less). Although smell quite delicious on me.
I’ll head on back to Soho where I belong |

It's lucky that I became a lady, as most of my suits were made forty years ago when I returned to England and the trousers and waistcoats have ceased to fit in recent years because of medical effects beyond my control, and skirts and dresses are more forgiving! |

"Géntlemen, Lådies, Bínaries, Whatéveries and Inclusìvities - do you wear a suit or an equivalent form of smart clothing for work?
Although I relish in the tranquillity of my casual attire for 'home working', I do sometimes miss the 'two-piece' and the smart shoes. The sartorial approach was always more than just symbolic. It effused an impeccable feeling of positivity and goodness in me.

I would expect nothing less from your exquisitely sartorial ensembles. One day we should amble down Jermyn Street and ogle at the affordable unaffordables, with a nod and homage to Beau Brummell. ....
I am assuming that you will stroll down St James's Street after luncheon as you have omitted the obligatory call on Lobb's and Lock's?
But you have already walked along Jermyn Street, so why didn't you drop into Floris?
It ought to be remembered, in the welter of smart shops and miasma of elegant fragrances being name-dropped in this delightful thread, that it is 'Maners Makyth Man', not clothes.
A beer, a cone of chips, double-denim: all can be perfect, in their place. There is nothing more vulgar than snobbery.
And as if Nero and I need persuading to stroll a little further, into Soho! We might meet Bill Nighy, famous suit-wearer and Soho-dweller. |

"Someone commented I always looked as if I was going to a funeral so nowadays I tend to favour dresses and jackets rather than skirt suits.
Besides, have you tired finding smart skirts these days .. nope, it’s all trousers! I won’t wear trousers for work.
Otherwise a handsome hottie in a smart suit ensemble, worn with confidence is my utter weakness ..

Today, I'm wearing a white collared formal blouse with a black pinafore dress over the top
Monochrome is always delightful!
I'm pathologically against forcing, though. Smart trainers over pain.
I might take a pic then
I didn't feel manager-like to present myself to external candidates in my smart trainers. The internals know the score....."

I am glad that you came through it well in spite of that; all too many who go to public schools or other good schools have no conception of what that must be like, and go through life continuing to be sheltered, comfortable, and privileged, without ever realising how lucky they are, or comprehending what life is like for many. |

Sorry to piss on bonfires, but the whole secret venue thing doesn't work when you have to know about disability access before signing up! Lots of venues are completely inaccessible. Hello again Nerolatte.
This thread reminded me of a beautiful sight I saw yesterday; a woman wearing a twe*d suit. Tight straight cut trousers, white shirt unbuttoned just enough. Twe*d blazer with leather elbow patches, tousled brown hair and a simple watch adorning her wrist. I almost took a photo because it was perfect. Realised it would be creepy so didn't. But suits on women? So incredibly hot. |
