With no responsibilities. No shopping, cleaning, ringing the bank, picking kids up from school, etc.

You have no access to a car, planes, or public transport - you can only travel to places you can walk/run/wheel/cycle to.

What do you do with your day?

Pretending for a moment I'm pain free I'd walk to my local park and feed the swans, ducks, geese etc by the lake.

Then chuck the squirrels some nuts they can bury for Spring.

I'd come home and read under a blanket.

Pretty much an average day for me. I work from doing a job no one checks up on so free to spend the day as I like, as long as I do something that leaves a productive footprint.

Camden Town is just up the road as is central London if I go the other way. I spend a lot of my day toking and playing guitar or xbox if Im bored enough. I dont drive so no access to a car otherwise I'd probably go for a drive in the country.

Pack a picnic a book an umbrella....

Look at Google maps ..... look at all the places in a one hours radius. Pick somewhere I want to go + a stop off en route there and en route home ... cycle there stopping at first stop. Continue until main stop..

Explore , eat , drink , read , take pics.....

Return home stopping off en route.

Home rest .. reflect ....

Town mouse becomes country mouse, but a little bit of the other is always welcome?

This sounds idyllic. Sir John Soanes Museum, down river for a stroll around Greenwich, then dinner at Clos Maggiore, for instance?

Mayfair

I would jump onto the No. 94 and head into Piccadilly, making a swift beeline for The Royal Academy, gazing in awe of all the mottled colours that somehow, magically, come together giving them credence for their artistic majesty.

Then a lazy cup (or two) of reasonably priced flat white in the The RA Café.... perhaps even a cheeky cake. I'm not sure what makes a cake 'cheeky' but I'm suffusing this experience, so bear with me.

After nipping into the obligatory RA gift shop and being suckered into buying some regional quince jam, produced over 200 miles away (it's got The RA logo, so hey, why not?), I start making my way back nearer to home and into the nearest (free) National Trust property and gardens....for an artisan sandwich and a crabby apple juice. If I can leech the free WiFi I may just ever-so-briefly log into Fab, perv' at you all whilst discreetly admiring, with due prudence, the handsome women lunching, wining and chitter-chattering amongst themselves.

All in all a Fåb day out.

Oh this is such a lovely thread to read, really enjoyable.

So the whole day off, with no responsibilities?

The night before I'd have stocked up on lots of nibbles. Baked the perfect cherry cheesecake. Good wine.

Morning, a long hot shower. Accompanied. Lots of kissing but nothing else. A little walk down to the nearest coffee shop, grab a smoothie and whatever the other person wants. Back to bed, snuggled up. Watch films. Listen to music. Eat nibbles. Kiss. Laugh, relax. Talk. Enjoy just being with no guilt. No rush or urge to do anything else. Massages. A hair brush for me. Lots of kisses. Wine. Probably sex. And photos! A fair bit in the interludes. Oh and being read to. That would be my perfect day of no obligations.

'Just being with no guilt' must be the primal dream of all humanity, after The Fall.

Well, after all these beautiful suggestions, how many people managed some of them?

I managed:

A bubble bath;

Reading;

Writing;

Some weights/press-ups/sit-ups;

Watching TV;

A lie-in with a nice cup of tea.

Very lovely. How about all of you?

No candles, so I missed a trick there, but yes, reading in the bath was beautiful. Not tried the milk powder, but if it worked for Cleopatra...

Do you know what I most regret? Not taking photographs of myself in the bath and sending them to my friends.

Boy, I'd hate for you to make the same mistake.

No, indeed. That would have been most unbecoming.

I prescribe to Manolo Blahnik. Louboutins are stale, like yesterday's jam (or quince!).

I think you know exactly what you want.

Changing your mind when circumstances change is the normal thing to do! I hope you get your good dose of bed very soon.

The Town by The Cross

"Pack a picnic a book an umbrella....

Oh, idyllic. Like a Famous Five adventure.

But would you have lashings of ginger beer?"

Not all five of us on one bike no.

The famous one goes idyllically dallying ..... maybe.

No Ginger Beer. I'd belch all the way home.
