cheap to set up, ie no massive costs and time and effort going to the Makro's etc topping up shops, food going to waste, very long hours.
All you do is lease a shop, hire an apprentice, buy a couple of chairs etc and you are off.
Cash in hand work for the apprentices, owners etc etc |

They get fuck all business from me....
Haven't paid for a haircut since around 1999. There are some benefits to inheriting your dad's male pattern baldness.
£20 on a new set of clippers every other year. Waaaay cheaper.

After a quick Google (and I hope this link is allowed as it is accredited news source) it seems they are being investigated for money laundering and other such activities.

How does it work?
Is it really as simple as just pretending they've taken much more money in cash than they ever have and then putting ill-gotten gains in the accounts, paying whatever tax on it they need to and then being able to spend it as income? |

The Syrian car wash near me is great for cigarettes & watches , and you can buy lottery tickets now he was explaining to me they sell 10 for £1000 each and the winner gets a car or a Rolex worth about £7000. It’s all legit apparently |

They must still have huge overheads, multiple premises in Oxford Street with high rent, and a massive stock of sweets and American candy that must also go out of date if it doesn't sell.
That means they must be making a fortune somewhere in order for it to be worthwhile, there must be cheaper ways or places to have those kinds of shops.

If it wasn't worth doing, they wouldn't. Basically.
High visibility, good reasons for expenses, cash trade with no receipts etc.
Organised crime is quite, we'll, organised haha. |

Money laundering is the answer. An easy way to clean cash as other than rent, energy costs and the initial outlay on cheap equipment you don’t have any expenses so income is essentially profit. |

They aren't paying huge rent or business rates, there's a reason they move I'm to empty stores, there's a loophole they exploit though I dint understand the technicalities of it.
There's also a complicated paper chain as to who owns the businesses |

Business rates in my local town centre are £40k a year fir a shop the size of a barbers. There are several, all charging something ridiculous like a tenner, several staff abd rarely any customers.
It's blatantly obvious it's money laundering, they don't even try and hide it |

What a state we are in. Our local authorities can’t even manage something as basic as this. No wonder we are a laughing stock ( aka wankers) and a magnet for dodgy foreigners that have fucked up at home so come and chance it out here. |

Mostly Labour Councils you'll find. Probably a fair bit of corruption involved given the huge money at stake. |

Do British nationals never launder money? Someone needs to tell the Salfordian underworld! |

It's completely down to money laundering. It's a new favourite, along with nail bars, cafes and restaurants. These shops are set up and some of the decor is very high standard. Barber chairs alone are very expensive. Rent and energy bills are a fortune and they charge £12-15 for a haircut? The sums don't add up. You don't have to prove how many people have come through your door and it's always cash payment. It is rife. |

"It’s mostly business that sell a cheap service rather than product. That way their is no record of what has actually been sold, no real stock record. "
That is a good point. As mentioned it always used to be mini cabs. |

"I live in Stoke Newington, home of the all night barbers. and all night robberies. Oh and during day too"
Welcome to modern Britain, the economic & cultural benefits of immigration.
Here in sleepy Maldon we have numerous barbers that rarely seem busy, plenty of takeaways that sadly do seem busy. A fantastic Turkish restaurant run by a lovely guy, he’s invited me to the VIP opening of his new restaurant next week. The Turks here hate the Albanians and you get the occasional flare up.
