It's the proper name for Japanese rope bondage.

OP, there are loads of web sites. The material produced by The Knotty Boys is fairly accessible and popular. Pay most attention to safety; tying ropes around certain parts of the body can easily cause nerve damage.

I think there are a few people on here who have experience of it. I believe Wishy said it's one of his skills.

My tips are above.

Oh, and find a patient partner, allow lots of time, and be prepared to have a laugh and some fun with it. Start simple. Choose your rope carefully; it's probably best to err on the side of slightly thicker to begin with. Read about the different types and their properties. Buy decent stuff; this is not the time to be improvising with washing line...

Boy scout knots are a start. lol

Be careful with cotton if you get it wet. It can shrink. Like I said, different types have different properties. There isn't a one-size fits all solution and it partly comes down to the effect you want, how you intend to use it and plain personal preference.

The Knotty Boys stuff is worth a look.

There aren't really any short cuts to doing it well, and safely. Research, research, research.

Try http://rare.ropemarks.com then click on the gallery. As for rope, I use curtain piping which is softer than other types.

If I want to tie someone up, I use electrical cable ties.

There's a pic on our profile of Siren tied with a standard full body 'Diamond Tie' also known as hishi shibari. Take a look, it's done using 20 metres of 8mm black curtain piping (but with the nylon core removed). I got it from Dunelms, a national supplier of haberdashery stores.

"ive been asked if interested into shibari, never heard of until now. any good tips / ideas?? "

It's roping someone up in particular ways. Google it - there's a lot on the web.

My fb does it. But it does require effort and a lot of good rope!

As Wishy has already said, rope selection is just as important as "knotting or roping". Use a soft rope, and a great tip from Wishy is if it has a core, do your best to remove it. Nylon, polyester and polypropelene can be quite rough and hard on the skin. Sisal will rip the skin. Soft hemp or brushed cotton is best if you can get it.

Again, as Wishy has said, curtain cord is good.

Watch what you're doing though, it's one of those things that can go wrong.

Tewkesbury

Start with 8mm jute or hemp most bondage rope places do it prepared for about £1.20 to £1.80 a metre. As you progress you will probably start to prep your own rope then your looking at about £70 for 220 metres of 6mm jute and a lot of hard work, but you do bond with it whilst doing the prep. I currently have just over 400 metres at various stages of preparation.

As mentioned above there are loads of resources on the web, some good some not so good.

If anyone wants more info PM me an off site email and I will send a selection of links that I rate highly. Anyone serious about being tied an not sure how to start again PM me and I will send examples of my work and advice on how to get started safely.
