I didn't know people were better off than us as a child. Most of my friends lived in similar circumstances to us and I really didn't understand that having certain material possessions was significant.
I was terribly envious of a girl at school who was allowed to grow her nails long though |

A Bang & Olufsen Beovision slimline tv, my school buddy had one in his house, always in awe everytime i went round and saw it, but looking back now, it seems quite sad thinking that way about a bloody telly, it mustn't have been that good anyway, it blew up after twelve months |

A colour tv and before that . A tv or anyone who had a car was paid well. I live now 15 minutes walk from house grew up , lived until 28. Now in same area a big percentage of houses have two or more cars. |

Inside toilet
Owning a car
Having your own furniture, not rented.
Going on holiday to somewhere that wasn’t another family member
Material things really, we were rich in other ways…. family time, laughter, food on the table. |
