Homes might be going up in value , but the monthly payments might become unaffordable for some especially if you are a one income household like myself |

You could buy elsewhere in the country as a buy to let. It gets you on the property ladder, allows for capital growth and you can choose an area with high yield. |

Kicking myself because I could have fixed last month at about 3%. I am on a tracker rate because I keep thinking I will sell up so want that freedom. Now looking to fix at nearer 5% for 2 years as in all likelihood I cant move anyway as where would I go with the rental market also being crazy. Nightmare. |

I took a short fix at 1.19 which ends in a year so I’m basically screwed , but tbh the 5-7 year fixes weren’t great because everyone knew they could only go one way. I’m overpaying the max each month

Nothing smug about that ! Its a choice many people make for peace of mind; although financially it’s nearly always the wring decision.
I choose to be in debt for the HR tax reliefs of pension investment and to maximise capital gain on property . I have always leveraged low rates to borrow as much as possible for property and business |

My mortgage was signed just before the rates went crazy, so thankful for that. It's fixed for 2 years, at the end i might move as this house is to big for us. |

on a couple of BTL's they had another 18 months to go on the fixed. We paid penalities and got new deals with the same bank at a fraction under 4% for 5 years. The previos rates were 2.9%
Cost us a few thousand but will recover the costs over the next couple of years. |
